Got diagnosed with it when I was 20 during a pre op for my Hernia surgery, was coming back at 200/117. Had loads of tests done under Endocrinology and the only thing they could put it down to was kidney not functioning properly and a cyst.
Was put on Ramipril 10mg and stopped on this till 2017, I then got it reduced down to 2.5mg, unfortunately I’m back up to 5mg after today’s readings 176/97.
I also have kidney function bloods every 3 months.
I’m talking about 4-5 beers on 3-4 nights a week (occasionally more if on a big night out) Nothing majorly excessive
Assuming that a pint is two and a half units, then that's 30-50 units a week, off the top of my head that's 250% more than recommended

I like beer. I tried every Low/0 alcohol beer in the supermarket. One was delicious & 19 calories per can.
Good point!
Have a fridge full of alcohol free beer and some of it is indeed very good. And yeah, I'm aware what my intake is compared to your regular guidelines. I'm still just not sure it's the booze that's causing it but I guess the only way to really know is to cut it out for a while and check the BP monitor daily.
Here's a report suggesting that the timing of the taking of medication can make a difference too - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-50122964
I'm in the middle of the Flo thing from the NHS, varying results but all high. Seeing the doctor next week. I've basically stopped exercising at the moment, walking and keeping a bit active are about it. Did anyone change there exercise habits? I've been pretty much gym bound the last year or so and pretty much neglecting the cardio. I'm thinking of switching this back around but I'm a bit reticent with the high BP. I guess take it easy would be the order of the day or probably wait to speak to the doc.
