Our van (2014 Tourneo Custom - new to us in June) broke down this week. Was hoping that it would be a warranty thing but dealer reckons that a rodent has chewed through the dpf sensor and fuel vaporizer pump which has blocked the dpf.
£600 repairs not covered under the warranty.
Firstly, does this sound legit? (have asked them to retain old parts).
Secondly, how can I prevent this happening again?

Had a mouse in my Transit, caught with a humane trap and removed before it did any damage.
Know someone who's fuel tank was gnawed through by a rat, PITA to replace and quite pricey, insurance coughed up for it though, apparently reasonably common on tractors.

It's just really frustrating. Have no idea how to reduce the risk of it happening again.
I park on the road and there are loads of squirrels everywhere so i'm assuming it's one of them...
