hi solarpowered 🙂 glad you're loving riding!

the guys on here are all chubby middle managers who work in IT or they're 'graphic designers' (getting paid to claim they can colour between the lines, but actually just using the 'fill' tool in MS Paint) so you'l be able to ride off or run away safely without them being able to catch you.

top-tip if you ever ride with yeti, take pepper spray.

SP - I'm a happily married resident of Pendlebury. I can show you a local 20 mile loop without any "worries" on that score. I go out Sunday lunch time. Takes about 2 hours. I'm sure people on here will vouch for my sanity and lack of convictions. 😀

tee hee! Is yeti that bad? (think i have pepper spray somewhere.....hmmm, may be that should be on the 'important things to take riding' list?)
Emmmz and sassy - nice to see the females out there, would love contact from anyone really who possible lives nearby.
Terrahawk - when you next out - just so you can laugh at my cycling 'in-expertise'? And how the bloody hell can you get previous peoples comments 'boxed' and then reply specifically to them? I'm not good at this am i?

Do what I have done but remove the number 1 after the word quote. There are quote tags in the reply box.

Solarpowered: if you can get to any of the Manchester Midweek Madness MTB races (see [url= http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/?series_id=283 ]HERE[/url] for details), have a chat with the co-organiser, Lisa. She goes out MTBing with some of the girls from her workplace quite regularly, sure there'd be room for one more!

She posts on here sometimes as elizag as well, I'll point her in the direction of this thread.

Clifton to Rivington would be old railway over M60 to Radcliffe, Canal to Bolton then I'd go smithills dean, over to back of dog kennels.

Ice cream run still scares me - I prefer San Marino - think it's the noise on the Ice Cream run which makes you think you are carrying a Dinner Set as your wheels bounce on the rocks.

Theres load of good stuff in our part of the world.

If your one of these girls I might be tempted to come for a ride.

But for some reason I get the feeling you'll be some sort of singletrackworld hairy he-man tranny in a pink tutu and that I'll get roofied and then bum raped.

The only girl I know who used "matey" was my ex, she turned into a butch rowing lesbian.

Do manc females use the word "matey". Are you a man in a pink tutu or a butch lesbian? I've had my lifetime supply of being sexually abused by the latter and obviously don't want to meet the former.

Not read all the thread - But my advice - Arrange to meet up with the Rivington / manchester posse. I did this when in the area and had a grand day out. They are a good bunch, a few women amongst them and despite their reputation I arrived back home safe and sound and well fed on cake.

One of the great joys of this forum for me is arranging to meet up with folk for riding - never been a crap day out when I have done this. People seem surprisingly normal in real life

No pink tutu here, or butch lesbian! Liking the 'attitude' though 😉

What's wrong with 'matey'?

Anyone want to meet up for an 'introductory' ride round manchester area sometime soon (ish).... 🙂

Happy to meet up, definitely won't be at any kind of race pace, email address can be found here: http://singletrackworld.com/members/portlyone/profile/

The hilarious/sad thing is, I dated her for about a year and kept managing to get her naked and burying my face in her huge tits, she'd get her rocks off and then she'd throw me out of her student flat with blue balls.

Every single time.

I'm still pissed about it. But luckily it's not so bad now I know she was in the closet....it's not that I'm totally inept with women.....just sometimes

Think they mean the side of the Ice Cream Run where theres a bit of singletrack which keeps you off the rocks.

Just got back from Rivington and only met one other MTB - and only a handful of walkers - bliss for a change !!!

I will be willing to meet up but Im back at work till next week so wont be out riding.

as you go down the Ice cream run there is a grassy path on your left that you can ride down if you chicken out of doing the rocks. The one time I had the pleasure of Hora's company on that route he took the chicken run hence the comment. It was a dig at his riding prowess and there was no other meaning meant.

It was largely factual if badly expressed.

Keep an eye on here, there are often "Peaks Pootle" rides from Roman Lakes (near Marple, about 25 mins from central Manc on the train) and there's a fair contingent of mostly normal people in that sort of area:
NBT, Bunnyhop, BadlyWiredDog, sambob, richpips. Me.

Oh and Hora but he doesn't fit the "mostly normal" description... 😉

Hi, Solarpowered, by the way... give me a shout if you want to go round Lee Quarry and want company - I live in Todmorden and ride in the area with a couple of other girls (and boys* sometimes too). *They probably think of themselves as rugged manly blokes though.

Hi ya Clover!
Doubt if i'll do any outings on sun as out tomorrow to hayfield - not sure if i'm gonna be fit enough to keep up!

If i do though will just be the usual jaunt to clifton then along the canal to ringley. Must admit i doubt i'll go out then, what with house/pets to sort out.

would love to meet another time if not this sun though???!

Save your cleaning until you get back from a ride, you can then have a mammoth clean starting with your bike. First rule of mtbing forsake all else to get out and ride.
