Er, that rather depends on what you want to do.

Lame thread - too vague.

I don't know what it can do, I just want to know the coolest features without having to read the manual

You can call people on it.
(too obvious?)

It's pretty good for browsing the web over wifi if you install a decent browser (Opera Mini isn't bad).
Camera's OK on it. Great when you don't have a camera otherwise and would miss a shot.
I've used Sportstracker a few times to track riding routes. Got bored of it now though.
Erm...don't know what else to say. Have a browse through the menus and play with it. Gives you something to do whilst having a "comfort break".

Er

Pretty OS, satnav, Wifi, voice commands, email, web browsing, HSDPA, BBC iPlayer, FM radio, real player, decent video camera, touch screen qwerty keyboard, lots of cool apps available..

Didn't you know what features it had when you bought it? Stop being such a retard.

Takes me an eternity to send a text, cos of the stylus thing, was going to rturn it but that turnd out to be a major ball-ache so I have it now for 18 months.

The Maps app is good though.

txt is dead easy using the full qwerty keyboard and both thumbs, never used the stylus..

Use T9 and alphanumeric to send texts, much faster than two hands!

Download Google maps. If you turn on your GPS (And make sure you choose Assisted GPS) it will show your location, is really useful as a basic Sat-Nav with Sat images if needed.
Nokia maps is pretty good also.
Its a good web browser also.
Pleased with mine, & less than half the cost of an iphone. 🙂

Only do this if you have cheap data rates!

Don't need the stylus. I use the full screen qwerty, but it takes a bit of getting used to if you have fat thumbs. Otherwise with the alphanumeric it's the same as a normal phone.

Half the cost of an iPhone? Mine was free 🙂

Google maps is indeed fab but it works on loads of phones, not just the 5800 🙂

Oh and it also has handwriting recognition so you can write txts and stuff.

I meant £££ per month. Mine was free, £15 / month 250 mins & unlimited data.
I couldnt get an iphone for less than £35 a month.

You might also want to get Viewranger, gets a good review here:

Its not cheap though....

I'd say Viewranger is pretty good VFM if you ride around the same area most of the time. I got tiles covering all the hills around Rochdale, Oldham, Bury, Burnley, Halifax plus a few other randoms around the UK for £25. There is a minimum spend of £20 but once you get past that it works out pretty well.

Only if you buy the whole UK maps in one go. I spent £15 on credits last year and just download maps as I need them.

I have fat thumbs. Well, they're big anyway.

Fill it with music,
Download and set up nokia sports tracker
Go ride your bike and then look where you have been on your PC and bore you mates to death with it

Then get fed up with the touch screen and faffing about with that stylus (its ok you will lose that soon) and wish you had got a N79

http://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/community/index.do

you will not be able to get the download from that website nokia took the 5800 of the list after trouble with getting it to work with the touch screen

you will have to google it and get it from the net

good luck

I've had one for 3 months. Great phone. Camera's OK, Sports Tracker works fine on mine (v1.83), Google maps is great too, the Latitude thing is good for seeing where all your GPS-enabled mates are! I've got Kaspersky Mobile Security on mine, as I do a fair bit of browsing and emailing.

As pointed out, you don't need the stylus. I never use it, and only very rarely use the plectrum thingy it also comes with.

Sportstracker works for me - it also supports the bluetooth heart rate strap that Polar make but DON'T SELL ANYWHERE the flippin idiots. You can only get it with some other Nokia phone marketed as a sports thingy.
