I need to arrange a stag do for mate who's getting married at the end of August this year. He doesn't want to go abroad and wants just one night away somewhere. Any ideas???

Cheers in advance

What's he into?

Bunk-house and a bit of outdoor stuff?

Otherwise, standard night in a big city, dressed in a mankini and the rest of you dressed as cowboys.

is he a cyclist? we went to coed y brenin for a long weekend. T'was great.

Another one I organised involved hiring a boat (transport, accommodation, cheap beer & food and entertainment all in one) on the river Thames, pubs, games and shenanigans along the way, 2nd night moored up very close to central Oxford and went out, 3rd day pootled back down the river, home.

He's not a cyclist but very much the outdoor type and likes walking and photography.

Would also be up for a night out in a city centre but probably without the mankini!

We did Edinburgh a few years ago and that was excellent.

17 of us went up the Buachaille Etive Mhor for my stag do before spending the night in the clachaig inn and crashing out at the youth hostel just along the round. Just what I wanted. 🙂

We did almost the same for a friend. Up the Pap of Glencoe (I think), many beers in the Clachaig Inn (and Jimmy Saville was there too), then off to Edinburgh the next day for karting and a night out.

Highly recommended.

Edinburgh is great but the nice bars won't let big groups of lads in and the bars that will let you in...

Newcastle (esp. the area around the Uni) is great. Nottingham is pretty good (the Pitcher and Piano is (was???) amazing).

Leeds is rubbish (great bars, idiot doormen)

Or how about a seaside destination? Whitby is great (nice traditional pubs).

Or if none of you want to see the light of day again, try Blackpool.

Surfing down in Cornwall, absolute blast even if you can't do it.

I'll tell you next Monday after my stag do. No idea what's planned but I've been told to bring my bike and some wetsuit boots.

Rafting at the watersports centre and then night out in Nottingham?

Go Ape somewhere followed by night out?

White water rafting on the Tummel during the day, night out in Edinburgh (I prefer Glasgow, but it's a bit further). Tummel's recommended cause They release a load of water from the dam at specified times over the summer, pretty sure it's July to September. Should be a blast.

Or google tank paintball - like paintball, but guess what? Never tried it, really want to

my stag do was the night before my wedding. Plenty of booze, pubs, clubs, into bed at 6am.

married the next day at midday.

isn't that what a stag do should be?

Where's everyone travelling from? If you're all from Kent or something then Scotland is kinda pointless just for one night.

Here you go then - based in Kilnsey at the foot of Mastiles Lane. There is a pub just down the road. I wanted to have my stag do there but it was booked up on the weekend I wanted it.

EDIT: Scrub that - they have changed slightly since I wanted to stay there... and it is not to be hired simply as a "party venue"

Stupidly I told my stags that I didn't mind what we did as long as it wasn't coasteering. 😳

They didn't tell me what I was doing, and I didn't twig that they all looked a bit nervous every time they looked at the sea until we got to the beach and I saw the coasteering van.

It was absolutely brilliant though - utterly mental but fantastic (even though I don't like swimming in rough waters near cliffs!)

Also, my lot footed the bill for me for two nights in a fort, paintball, karting, coasteering and all booze and food! Obviously your crowd might not be able to do that but maybe you could help him out a bit?

I totally agree - especially as he has recently lost his job. Keep the whole thing (relatively) cheap and cheerful so you can all afford to put a bit in for him.

Sea fishing off Ilfracombe was a nice one and a bit different. More dogfish than you can shake a stick at 🙂
