Is it me, or is the quality of the programs on council TV at it's lowest ebb? I have seen other threads about people giving up their TV licence and would be sorely tempted to do the same, however CBeebies is proving a good babysitter for my 3 year old and our laptop is so old that iplayer is soooo slow!

It would appear that parenting skills are similarly poor... 😉

I reckon the two screaming hard men getting mauled by the plooice dog on Traffic Cops must be worth a fair proportion of the licence fee.

Council TV=Not Sky.
In reply Crikey. I meant to say it's the wife who says that about CBeebies when I get back from a hard day at work. I wouldn't dream of letting him watch tv.( Tongue planted firmly in cheek)

Council TV seems a poor description to me as virtually every Council house has a Sky dish attached to it. 😕

TV has always been poor, just now there are lots of freeview channels and the rubbish is spread out so widely.

Silent Witness and Lip Service make the licence worth it between them for me.

Mind you, I don't actually own a TV so I only ever watch things on I player these days.

You didn't watch any of the recent Attenborough outings then, or the space stuff with Brian Cox?

TV's never been better.

I have been watching the Parkinson interviews on BBC4. He was talking to intelligent people who weren't selling the next tv programme or film they were in.
Compare that to the Ross or Norton offerings.

channel 4 just finished about the Shard a new building in london, how they built it.

Theres not a lot anygood on otherwise.

soaps, wanabe famous type kids, football, cricket, more football, no cycling, and talkie chatty shows, with boring people.

Nowif this forum did tv programes, then they would be worth watching.

We could do Embarrasing Bodies,

The Office,

Todmorden street, instead of Coronation St,

Blue Peter, where forumites make stuff,

Consumer programes,

The Gadget Show,

Waterloo Road, for the teachers,

Casulty for the Dr,s and Paramedics,

Question Time,

One Foot in The Grave, featuring a miserable old man, plenty of choice there for the star,

Britains got Talent,

Loose Women,

Neighbours, problem ones,

Home and go-away,

The Politics Show,

any more.

Yup, even the news is boring these days.........same old, same old.

And don't get me started on the weather.

Family Guy is the only thing worth making an effort for imo.

looking at the offering in Oz you are damm lucky to have the BBC, most of the best stuff is BBC out here or American. The ABC is good but not on the scale of the BBC

Keep moaning but occasionally have a look at sky/fox etc to see the alternative.

Sherlock was worth the fee though...

I fail to see how a Scandinavian police procedural series is like a weird, plotless SF series.

Yep. BBC Four has some great stuff on imo. It redeems the BBC for me. Just. In short bursts anyway. The rest is mostly crap, but it always has been.
