Hello
I have an 8 year old Pioneer plasma TV. It was bought in the Middle East and does not have a Freeview decoder built in. I bought a Humax Freesat box, only to unpack it and it said 'plug your satellite cable in here'. Only problem is we don't have a satellite. I only want the free channels you get automatically on any modern TV and iPlayer if possible (which I know would require connection to our router). We just want to use the normal TV aerial in our attic and/ or router. What do I need to buy?
Thanks
Mr Confused
A satellite dish?
Or a plain terrestial freeview box. Which will be £30 or less.
Just buy a freeview box.

Posher ones will have the hd channels. Some have iplayer built in but this can be added others ways. Also worth considering getting a freeview recorder.

Pack it up and take it back for a refund. Then buy a terrestrial freeview box. Worth considering a DVR (freeview recorder) though; humax do good ones (we have a DTR-T2000) and their website often has managers specials
beware if getting a freeview box from ARGOS, they gave me a broken one, and it didnt work had obviously been used before and returned, and the previous 4 i had non lasted longer than a year,
Freesat = satellite receiver
Freeview = terrestrial receiver
Take the Freesat box back and get a Humax Freeview box.
Thanks chaps.... it was the Freesat/ Freeview differentiation I didn't understand. Thank you all!
I wish bike queries were so easily answered.....
