About to dabble with Tri for the first time, and have been building up distance at my local pool, but I can't put off open water sessions any longer.

I need a budget wetsuit to fit a broad shoulder (roughly 44" chest), broad thigh, and spare tyre.. I also have a very short inseam for my height at around 31".

Im 6ft 1"/185cm but most suit size charts I see to cater for my dimensions leave me with a suit for someone around 6ft 5", far too long for my build & stumpy legs.

Ive seen this: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/orca-trn-full-sleeve-wetsuit/#more

and with the additional £15 discount I can easily get it down to £75, which seems a bargain.
It would appear that a size 10 on thier chart would suit me best, although again, a bit too long.

So, is this suit worth considering as a first purchase at this price?
Should I 100% try a few on elsewhere before I buy, or could I wing it in this?
Any other recommendations?

You really really need to go to a tri specialist store and try them on. One of the tri magazines recently did a review of wetsuits, where they graded them from 0-10 acording to fit (10 being the broadest fitting) iirc zoot was the highest number and 2xu was quite high as well.

ps. 44inch chest is quite small, at best average certainly not broad.

I've just rented one from A1 Multisport - £39 for a season. It arrived today, looks fantastic, but I failed to zip up on my own. Will now have to hire a zip assistant for all events.

blush - thank you.
Im going by current shirt size, although not sure how I pull it off, as in reality I am still a fat b@stard, despite loosing 5 stone. In reality Im probably 44" to 46". The waist isnt far off that either...

Thanks for the advice, ill check those brands also.

I was going to hire last year but picked a £400 suit for less than hire off eBay.

Try on in store and start searching eBay would be my suggestion

( iDave i cant do mine up on my own either 😳 )
