Hi all,

In the very early stages of trying to plan a trip to north India or Nepal this December/January. I am currently in south India, and between 1-4 mates from the UK will be coming out too.

- We have roughly 12 days in the country.
- We are all relatively fit, 2 of us have done a fair bit of sports climbing. I'd like to do something that is challenging, maybe needs crampons and rope, but isn't massively sketchy given our lack of time and winter experience.
- Limited time means either spending a lot of time acclimatising, or staying around 3000m.
- Limited budget
- If we are starting from near Auli (India), we could do a couple days skiing there which would be fun but not essential.

So, any thoughts/recommendations on locations or companies/packages? I saw a various packages, around 8 days, including guide, camping, food, some basic equipment, for around £180pp which seemed pretty good.

Thanks!
Duane

There's a guide book/coffee table book called 'the trekking peaks of Nepal' can't recall who it's by. It's not backpacking, it's more mountaineering for mortals type stuff or I think people who don't want to go with a big organised caravan
