What's with all the weird horns and music they play while on the lookout?
SO people hear them & come out to see what's making the noise. So they can then ask you if you have any scrap.

We had a bugler (?) around here a few weeks ago - walking 10-paces ahead of the flat-back tranni!
Around our way they send their lady folk as recce teams driving the transits then return later to lift your gear, no bell and whistles here.
