anyone got one?
thoughts? economy as good as cracked up to be? durable etc? Reliable?
suppose comments from Pug 107 and Cit C1 owners would be of use as well.
ta
Had one as a courtesy car after someone drove into me a couple of years ago. It went well enough, and was fairly efficient, but I found it ridiculously small. Only enough boot space for a couple of shopping bags, and the rear seats were a joke, so only really any use for single people with no mates! 🙂
Best little car ive driven for a weekend 400 miles, fast, nimble, but oh so expensive for the toyota, the citroen is cheaper, beware the full glass rear window tailgate.Plenty of room inside im 6.3 and we got 2 suitcases in and 3 other people.
Id buy one tomorrow if i could afford to.
As an only car for biking as well etc?
Whats your typical commute?
I just think they are now too expensive for what you can get.
Ps. I drove mine from Manchester to southern Germany on NY's eve a few years ago. I almost went onto the Ring in it however I couldnt find insurance intime 😆
My father in law hired one and I went in it a bit. Very very small and basic tbh. Now I'm not one for luxury fancy cars but it really is crude. Its main advantage is that it's cheap new. If I could stretch at all I'd go for the next size up eg Yaris, Fiesta etc which are still cheap but much much better comfier safer cars these days.
Saying that to drive I'd rather drive an Aygo than a Fiesta.
A Ka would be better than a Aygo though and more importantly they are cheaper.
We bought a new Aygo a year ago on the scrappage scheme. So far we love it. I'm tall and so is the wife but we still go out with the kids in it. Economy wise I'd say 45+ round town on short trips. The £20 per year road tax and £145 insurance is nice as well. First service was £98.
Have you bought one yet? 🙂
Too expensive and quirky for me.
Try a Honda Jazz 1.4.
Great little tardis of a car!
One car that you should only buy on Toyota's finance. 0% Personal Contract Plan with no deposit makes a lot more sense than taking a chance on a used one as they don't wear their miles well. New ones have 5 years warranty too. OP, where are you based? I may well be able to sort you out if that's the route you were thinking of.
Don't really use a car everyday. I brompton and trai to work. So for occasional use for little trips out inc with the bike. Also to be used for autosoloing which is a cheap form of motorsport (tight twist y1st and 2nd gear stuff). Got an old mk1 Mr2 at the mo. Also wanted to free some room up in the garage as well. I'm 6' 5' so think might take one for a spin to see what they are like. Ta for the comments.
I've driven them a couple of times as well as rental cars, as well as a peugeot 107. Fairly nice to drive, they've got as much room as you'd expect.
The peugeot I drove was a diesel and I was convinced for a while the fuel gauge was faulty as it didn't seem to be going down!
The wife has had an Aygo for over four years, costs me peanuts to run, good mpg, surprising amount of room inside and not too bad put together. Got our 1.0 Sport model with a £1600 discount and if I sold it tomorrow would only loose about £2500 in depreciation over the four years from new. If you can get a good discount not too bad cost when you consider the running costs.
I've got a Mercedes saloon and I'd rather drive the Aygo around town anyway!

Ooooo hello. Only prob is they are almost 10k new now aren't they?
Ive got one we bought new in the summer and it's great. Not much space in the boot but ok for a bit of shopping or a buggy.
We can get both kids in their seat in the back as well but then it is rather slow, best when you are on your own.
Don't know about the costs, but in Denmark the Toyota wasn't much more expensive, but for some reason got a 3 year warranty instead of 2 years on the Citroen or the Pug
The 0% deal is on a contract hire over two years though by the look of it.
I still reckon a Jazz is 10000000 times better than an Aygo tho.
Totally agree however you'll never get away from the blue-rinse image that the Jazz has. I once had an accident management company Jazz that was stooooopidly nippy 🙂
Is anyone considering an Aygo the least bit bothered about image? 🙂
My parents went to visit their friends who have an Accord and a Jazz, both pretty new.
Dad: Me and mum went all the way to somewhere or other in the back of their Jazz, it was very comfortable and there was loads of room
Me: Don't you mean Accord?
Dad: No, Jazz. It really is big enough for 2 adults in the back comfortably.
Odd thing about total weight for car... when aygo was launched reviews said it weighed between 800 & 900kg... now toyota lists the current one at 1190kg.
Girlfriend has one, horrible thing.
Engine is really noisy and has no umph, useless gutless thing.
Hers is an auto. Leave aside that I hate autos anyway, this one is particularly bad.
It feels really unstable, especially when passing HGVs etc, or on bridges on windy days.
It feels cheap and nasty, one can see where they have cut corners, lots of little things like no lid on the glove box and the interior light will only come on for the driver's door. Endless list here. I don't mind basic, I loved my old Landy, but the Aygo just feels nasty. Cheap plastics too.
It has the most uncomfortable seats I have sat on in a car. Journey of 30 mins is about the most I can stand.
Only broken twice in 4,000 miles. Fuel pipe came loose from the tank and gear lever housing also came loose.
Boot is useless, but to be fair that would be the same for any car that size. Although it doesn't open properly (more corner cutting) which doesn't help.
However much you are thinking of spending you can get a slightly older Golf that will be in a different league.
Its a concept I love however they built a basic car on the cheap but charge alot comparably. Its an insult almost to customers to omit the basic small increase in price for slightly better interior dash etc plastics.
I'm eagerly awaiting the Dacia 4x4.
