Great start to the day. Love their bonkersness. Spent quite a bit of Sunday looking at photos of other dads/heros in the Wingnuts lineage with my kids. We're lucky to be able to have sepia photos that go back to the 1880s.

Did you ever see the vid where they're chasing round their garden pretending to be bees?

Moon-barking. Ab-so-frickin-lutely moon-barking.

Love 'em.

I love the first comment to that last video:

KC fans: you can't dance to a King Crimson song, it's not possible
Toyah: hold my wine

Will watch. Lovely folk and Fripp is amazeballs. Read an article about his guitar tutor school, where he gets folk to play the same sequence in ever changing time signatures, then play it backwards - explains a lot.

oh and @johnners - we've got a pulley like that, retrieved it from my aunt's flat in 1987 or so, been in all our flats and houses with us since. 🙂

I used to work with Robert Fripp's nephew, and that is the end of my story.

That's not mad enough they need the new standard tuning.

I think Fripp was fairly clean for most of his life. His thing was shagging. Lots of shagging.

...and now he lives in a castle with Toyah. Where did it all go wrong?

The utter bastard.

Check out his Wiki entry and he comes across as a talented and interesting guy, but also quite a decent one.

Total bastard. 🙂

Toyah looks great for her age , she actually looks nicer now than in her heyday. Fripp is indeed a lucky bastard.

They’ve been together for 35 years! I hadn’t realised they now live somewhere in Worcestershire, they used to live in Cecil Beaton’s old house near Salisbury.
I’ve been a fan of Fripp’s work for fifty years now, phenomenal guitarist and musician, and I saw Toyah play in Bath back in 1980, keep meaning to go see her when she plays Bristol, she regularly has a gig at The Fleece around Christmas time.

was showing these clips my work mate who is into his guitars - he couldn't figure out how Fripp was getting long reverbs/notes.
A wikipedia google lead to the rabbithole that is Frippertronics using two tape decks with the tape strung between them for reverb/sustain.

When I saw Crimson on the Discipline tour (at the Dora Cohen Hall, Wheatley pop fact fans) they were doing the final work on Beat and both albums featured the Roland GR guitar synths plus loads of pedals. We were constantly trying to work out what was happening on stage and how they were getting those noises. Sounded amazing though.
We arrived early, heard the sound test underway so popped out to the King & Queen pub and had a beer or two. Suddenly the place went a bit quiet as the band walked in ordered beers and sat at a table.
I didn't have the nerve to say "Hi" or even "looking forward to the gig tonight." Really regret that now. If only for not having a "Bill Bruford told me to **** off" story.

Edit: That Chords of Orion guy above really gets on my tits for some reason.

Oh my, ze undertrousers are shrinking. 😎

I've noticed a couple off things, Toyah looks amazing and her singing is probably better than when she was at her peak in the 80s.

I'm off for a cold shower.

Anyone notice how alike they look? Toyah is indeed in good nick. She had some work done about 20 years ago which seems to be holding up well.
