I'd be tempted to say it's a bit unfair. Yes, there were signs posted detailing the parking restrictions, but just posted over the original signs? I reckon some clamping/towing firm spied a lot of easy money to be made. At least in Edinburgh the [i]ad hoc[/i] parking restriction enforcers have the decency to plaster every vertical surface with bright yellow placards that you can't fail to miss.

Does it affect the discussion if I tell you that Ramadan doesn't start until tomorrow, and that this was probably just a Friday afternoon prayer (albeit that the last prayer before Ramadan might be busier than usual?). Might it be that this restriction is in place for every Friday afternoon prayer (hence the reason the signs are much the same as normal). It would certainly be unusual for temporary parking restrictions not to be clearly signed. If your cousin is trying to appeal she should do so only on the signage / facts and not on any prejudices she may have that Muslims should not be allowed to congregate in large crowds with the potential impact on traffic.

I don't buy the "its my cousin that is upset not me" story - as you have taken the time to post here so are clearly outraged. The fact you haven't had the sense to question if other events (for different faiths and activities) have parking restriction but recognised this might get you called a racist suggests you probably are.

i don't live in the UK, but can honestly say that you are lucky to be living in a country which provides you with free health care, schools, proper beer and proper chips.
