That Mike Neville.

Looks like he may not have punched anyone after all then.

"The general manager ended up cooking himself for the three presenters"

That seems both excessive and an amazing feat, I wonder how he tasted?

Also JC is only 54, god he looks rough for it.

I can't quite figure out why they keep referring to TG as a 'factual' programme !!? It's light entertainment sherly.

As part of their broadcast licence they have to show a certain amount of factual stuff (as opposed to Drama etc).

But that factual stuff can be anything from a documentary on the history of the glue on stamps on BBC4, to The Only Way is Essex. Which is why the latter (and Made in Chelsea, and Housewives of Cheshire, and Jordie Shore, etc) exist, they fulfill the criteria of being factual, whilst getting viewing figures on a par with the soaps.

Trying hard to think of why anyone who thinks that, on the overwhelming evidence, Jeremy Clarkson is a walking bucket of sh1t, is a Communist.

Erm.....

Nope. Still can't quite see it.

Change.org "re-instate" petition heading for 750,000 signatures

Frankly none of this would be that big news if he didn't work for the BBC with its "state/public" funding. Perhaps it is time for him to run his own production company and sell the programme to the highest bidder

Well, that's just over 1 in 10 of the viewers who actually care. 🙂

Some thoughts from Noel Edmonds on the matter
one godawful ex-bbc presenter saying how terrible it is that a (possibly) soon to be ex-bbc presenter has been allowed to act like a petulant child, because he wasn't supported enough and has gotten himself into trouble. Wow.

He did that.

The highest bidder was the BBC.

Any guests on TG that'd make a good presenter? (bar Chris Evans/JK)

JC works as he is offensive and always has been. In the days of Performance car mag (back in the 90's) I loved his monthly back page column. He was different to the other motor journo's.

The problem is hes been doing it too long. Hes become offensive purely for the sake of it. Hes bored.

Or maybe a lot of people worldwide like him and he makes himself and his employers a shed load of money? If that's the case, why would he stop?

At the risk of repeating the bleeding obvious from the haterz camp:

I hope they sack the bigoted, racist old man.
He's guilty, like Farage, of making soft racism and bigotry seem ok.
He appeals to scared little englanders because they like to hide their bigotry by revelling in being "politically incorrect".

Had a bizarre discussion with a couple of 'blokes' at a clients premises, they hailed him as some kind of subversive and outsider railling against the status quo - they were clueless that he was friends with CMD and the Ginger Witch and very much an insider with some less pleasant circles. His only redeeming feature is he punched Piers Morgan.

I agree with Hora JC was a good read in the 90s and top gear definately did have a renaissance period years ago but seems to need to be retired as the jokes just seem to be tired....

It's a aged a bit like 'watch your language' and 'love the neighbour' 🙁

TBH I also don't think anyone of a certain age is also going to have the same racism/bigitory viewpoint/level as someone 10-20 years younger tbh the world changes pretty quick but people dont.

Tellys all an act anyway...... No telling real from fantasy 🙂

Love it how all the "experts" on the Internet think they know best, saying it needs to be retired or changed or whatever, just because they don't like it as much as they used to, or they never liked it.

It's Massively successful, watched by millions of people all over the world every week.

Why would the BBC want to change it unless they had to ?

If you don't like as much as you used to, or you never liked it, then you are not the target audience(anymore), get over it and watch something else.

The target audience **** love it. All over the world.

Lots of people loved Hitler too.

I'm talking about the format rather than any individuals.

The format that's "tired" and "unfunny" or in some way not as good as all the Internet experts would do.

It's so bad in fact, that only 350 million people watch it every week.

But I'm sure the experts of the internet are correct, Obviously it needs changing 🙂

How does a light entertainment programme create so much angst 😉 ?

No idea, I just watch it and have a laugh, and see some nice cars etc.

Sometimes it's good, sometimes it not as good.

That is the end of it, it has no further effect on my life than that, a bit of entertainment on a Sunday evening.

It is quite funny how people who don't like it are so evangelical about how terrible it is though.
No other program I can think of generates that sort of reaction.

It generates reactions both good and bad what other tv programme gets a weekly SWT thread? I dont read them tbh so no idea what you all talk about

As for why some folk find a programme, popular or otherwise, fronted by a boorish racist as a bit shit.

I am not sure why TG fayns have to ask why ,do folk not say often enough for you to get it 😉

I must have missed the weekly 10+ page threads about them ?

Either that, or they aren't even in the same league of generating a reaction.

Nobody needs to ask ffs.

People who don't like it, never bloody shut up about it 😯

Unlike the fans

It is quite funny how people who like it are so evangelical about how good it is though and how its just a persona.

To be fair, you don't actually see many people being evangelical about how good it is do you ?

People just say they like it, and find it entertaining, so they watch it.

Which is slightly a different level to all the Charlie Brooker wannabes, waxing lyrical about how bad it is and how it's broken and needs to be axed etc etc.

(By the way, the repetition with the subject changed, is very much JHJ. Don't lower yourself 😉 )

I like Charlie Brooker and I like the Philomena Cunk character as well. Just watched Weekly Wipe and it made me chuckle, a little bit.

I like Charlie Brooker too.

but now everyone on the Internet seems to want to "rant" Charlie style, about whatever it is that's popular (but beneath them)

Currently that seems to be top gear.
