"malicious vandalism" of a "government of millionaires" against the "ordinary people".

The old boy is still coming up with gems.

I think TB's a great politician as much as I disagree with some of his ideas but frankly this whole idea that the government/shadow positions are stupid is equally stupid. They're clearly not, they just have very different ideas and motivations to you, not to mention that everyone makes mistakes - tell me which politican, even brilliant, well regarded ones, never did.

I really hate politicians in genereal FWIW though.

You might disagree with his politics. But at least hes a principled politician, hes not in it for himself. I would trust him far more than any of the new generation of career politicians.

basicly describes the whole political class for the past 30 or 40 years. IMO the big problem with politics currently is the lack of diversity in the backgrounds of politicions.

There was a thing on the radio about Labour people campaignign just after the war.

They went to the Duke of somethings house and he answered the door, saw they were Labour and said;

"Oh, you've got my vote. It's my Butler you need to talk to - he's a dreadful Tory"

I agree that he's pricipled but equally as a politican, I reckon he'd still do some pretty underhand stuff to get his agenda across if he reckoned it'd work.

Didn't he make a point of closing down pirate radio stations? Not to mention supporting Sinn Fein?

How do you work that out? 30-40 years ago nearly all politicians had gone through public school (e.g. Lord Anthony Wedgewood-Benn, now Tony Benn), and woman and ethnic minorities were barely represented.

The current parliament has relatively speaking a huge diversity. Pretty much all are well educated, and that is fine because people who run the country should be intelligent, good decision makers, and good leaders. Those sort of people will always further themselves whatever their original background

I think he might be referring to the "cuts that we all need to make" being principally at the expense of those least culpable in creating the mess and least able to bear the brunt of the axe, whilst those what done it are getting away pretty much scot free.

Just going off at a slight tangent, given the RBS and Lloyds results starting to show us as shareholders a return on our investment, the fact that even Tory broad sheets starting to mutter about a double dip recession being likely, the level of stupidity being displayed in respect of foreign affairs, and the appalling and blatantly dogmatic Tory approach to government, (i.e. cut and slash everything and then give tax benefits to yer mates), is there anyone who voted for this lot starting to regret it yet?
