help - it's for motorcycle touring in europe.....
TomTom Ride, then. (Or at least, that was the best last time I looked).
I've always used Garmin, you can plan your routes on the computer using a dedicated program and upload them to the sat-nav, which I don't think you used to be able to do with the TomTom, not sure if that has changed now though. Garmin do a couple of biker specific units as well.
Garmin if you want the road names read out over a bluetooth headset. tomtom cant do it despite what the literature says.
thanks - there's a program called tyre that lets you plan the route on google maps then download to either tomtom or garmin.......???
any more thoughts people ?
thanks again !

Tom Tom cause you don't need customer service if you get one
i found the garmin routing to be a bit strange, was a few years ago, but it seemed to pick odd ways to get to places which were a lot slower than the more obvious route. (even with changing the settings to quickest route etc). Tom Tom routing seemed much better (in my opinion)
tom toms have a habit of selecting the wrong file for the 'voice to read' so it will occasionally confuse plymouth & portsmouth and left right.
generally tom toms easier to use but garmins have more available features.
I like garmin.
I was going to buy a TomTom recently but went for Garmin as for an extra £70ish you can have map updates for life and their live traffic updates are free, really wanted the TOMTOM but having owned the Garmin for a couple of months I have no regrets.
