Yes I know its a vague one but maybe someone has a sensible answer. Been lent a Tomtom sat nav and I can't get it to talk to me. Asking the owner isn't an option. Online manuals don't help apart from telling me to switch the option on which I have. Got the right voice etc selected. Shouldn't the verbal instructions be automatic? Our cheapo Garmin does this but this flash Tomtom doesn't. I want it to tell me to "keep left" or "turn right in 200 metres"

See if the volumes been turned down, on some of em you touch the bottom of the screen to adjust the volume

Sorted. Apparently the little icon that resembles nothing on this earth is the one that controls the verbal instructions. Grrr
