Just a perfect evening. Rather hoped for Sundogs, but not enough high ice crystals, sadly. Some nice Virga, though.

@dakuan - is that a chiffchaff, by any chance? I know it’s a warbler, but I had a chiffchaff turn up in my garden last year, to my astonishment, and I hadn’t realised they were warblers! I’ve head them many times, but never seen one close enough to realise what family they belong to.

Further to the photo of the full dishes I put out for the hedgehogs, here’s the dishes 24 hours later…

They don’t leave much…

Yes it is, a bunch of them turned up yesterday so I spent a few hours next to the hedge they landed in. Warblers is one of those groups thats a thing for birders but not for taxonomists as many of them look the same and do the same thing but arent very closely related. Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps can be resident now, you'll hear a handful of them pipe up a bit early.

I'm waking up in the back of my van by Machynlleth for Dyfi bike park and I keep hearing this tapping at the front of the van.

Seems I'm in a Hitchcockian nightmare and this little bird is trying to get through the glass to murder me 😯

I'm constantly having to pay the cheese toll for the dog. You have to pay it for birds now too? 🤔

Wagtails seem to love carparks, it’s probably seeing its own reflection. If it were a robin, there’d be blood and feathers all over your van!

Sparrow and goldcrest, the goldcrest is on the coconut shell -not easy to see. The sparrows haven’t been in my garden for a few years, it’s lovely to have them back.

First set of arrows this morning. That’s as good as it got.

My chickens go mad for grated cheese. Dog toll + chicken toll = no cheese for me.

One of my favourite spots, Morgan’s Hill nature reserve, just above Calne in Wiltshire. Wonderful view across to the edge of the Cotswold scarp, from just above Bath and Bristol, north towards Gloucester. A bit hazy, but with my binoculars I could see what I’m pretty sure is Pen-y-Fan, certainly parts of Bannau Brycheiniog, roughly 100km, 62m away. I was at 250m altitude, Pen-y-Fan’s 886m, there aren’t many places along the edge of the Cotswolds above 240m. I just love the fact that sitting on the seat provided by Wiltshire Wildlife I can see another country! 😁
