always knew the the wee yin (7 years old) was a bit special, always reading or drawing or being creative so was expecting a good report this evening.

but blow me! he's well over a year ahead of his ability in terms of literacy and numeracy.

havent pushed him at home but have encouraged and just been really supportive in everything he shows interest in.

so happy for him.

told him that I would consider anything as a 'well done' pressie, take him somewhere or to see something, go for grub somewhere, get a toy etc.
him: 'er, Daddy, can I have an iPad?'
me: 'when you get that scholership, son!'

Good lad!

Even the thickest kids are 'way ahead at school', unless the child gets in to Oxford at 7, it's just not worth mentioning...

A lad in my primary school was similar (Long long time ago!) he went on to a public school & was gonna be a surgeon, ended up a complete drug infused hippie, FUBARED.
Sorry to p!$$ on your bonfire but don't get too excited just yet.

That's good, but you need to find out what it is he is a year ahead of. Then think how gutted you would be if they told you that was his standard.

Of course, if you don't have kids, you couldn't possibly understand.

Walking through town is quite scary
It's not very sensible either
A friend of a friend he got beaten
He looked the wrong way at a policeman
Would never of happened to Smeaton
An old leodensian
I predict a riot
I predict a riot

Being proud is good - I would be surprised if many parents of seven year olds weren't proud of what their kids are doing.

Bragging about it on a forum is a bit much though.

Could be worse:

What tyres for...?
What type of Skoda Octavia for..?
What high end espresso machine for...?

Best just leave him to it cos it'll all end in tears.

Ffs - when I was 10 I had a reading age of 15. I left school with one CSE at 15. And that was in metalwork. In all honesty, this is one of the oddest posts I have seen in some time.

Hmm, good at reading and drawing...

...bet he's crap at sports and fighting.

Get him to a martial arts class. He'll thank you for it one day...

Well done to the lad. Mind you perhaps something to push his creative talent forward could be a better present than an ipad. Ignore the naysayers, nowt wrong with being proud of your kids when they're doing well.

Really?? . . . and folks posting pics of what the postie's just brought or their next object of desire isn't? 🙄

Nowt wrong with a bit of pride, be it in your latest purchase or a family achievement. Enjoy the feeling headsup and well done to headsup jr! [img] [/img] Bet the teacher felt pretty good delivering the report too 😀 . Burger off back under your bridges the rest of you!

However, if he doesn't appreciate it, he'll kick your ass!
