As it's that special time of the year, how about shouting up somebody who's done something ace for you and is deserving of a collective round of applause - if not more.
I'll start:
A week or so ago, a chap posted up on this website that he had a brand new bike that he wished to donate to a deserving cause or person.
A youngish lady (far too young) and single mother to boot is going to be enjoying her last Christmas this year with her 9 year old daughter at my wife's hospice.
The said fine gentleman responded to my reply concerning the bike and despite being completely snowed in , has managed to move heaven and earth (or snow, aassisted by a local farmer and his tractor I beleive) to get the bike from the deep South West to the North West in time for Christmas. It arrived today and Leon, you are the toast of a large number of health professionals up here and you are thanked heartily for your generousity and immense efforts.
I hope I've not embarrased you and if you all will, a round of applause for the said gent.
Who's next?

Good one Leon - from someone staring at a grossly abnormal brain scan on Christmas Eve last year (& a 10 year old son as well) then your actions are worthy of all the praise heaped upon you. Gritty snow around these parts as I wipe my eyes.

Proof that Leon exists, and his real identity

And I'd like to thank the two STW members who kicked off my fundraising efforts by agreeing to purchase parts from me and pay via my Just Giving page London to Paris bike ride

I remember that thread requesting the transport of a bike oop North.
Nice one! Excellent. Glad it happened and all concerned are chuffed!!

I'd just like to give a round of applause to people on here who give those in genuine need proper advice. You never know what's going on behind the scenes in other people's life's and I get the impression that the solid advice doled out on here makes a real difference to those who aren't on top form.
And a round of applause to everyone else for (generally) not ripping the wee out of them.....

Thanks Steve - a little embarrassed I must say! But thank you very much for those kind words and hope the 'little-un' has a great Christmas! It won't make the future any better for her, but at least for one day she may forget what is happening in her life and enjoy some 'special' time for herself - it sounds like she deserves it!

You can not forget that it was you who responded to the thread in the first place and if people like you didn't take the time and effort to do so, none of it would have happened!

Merry Christmas everyone on STW and a Happy New Year!

Well done Leon.

I would like to mention WorldClassAccident and his merry band for organising the Big Bike Bash and the money that was donated to UK Youth.

My thanks go to the awesome dutch guy with a land-rover who offered to drive behind us as we left hotel Monacle Mohr along the treacherous icy road teetering on the edge of Loch Voil yesterday.

Luckily we didnt need to be towed out of the loch but it was a comforting safety blanket knowing he was right behind us if we actually span off the road!

Isn't this place really nice, in the face of the arguments and disagreements, goodness and warmth wins. Nice one Leon and Happy, Warm and Wonderful Christmases for all.

Well done Leon.. looking forward to perhaps meeting up for a ride in the new year after we've settled in to the new place.. you didn't get back on the Dartmoor thread about where you're based on the moor..

On a related note.. a round of applause for all the neighbourly comraderie on display over the recent weeks in the battle against the bad road conditions..

thanks everyone
merry xmas and happy new year

Steve, if you need another project then I'm sure I can knock a bike up that you can auction on here (with the permission of the powers that be) that may make the hospice a few quid, it may appeal more to retrobike though 😳

TBH I would rather that whatever I need to get rid of went to a deserving cause than for peanuts on the classifieds.

How about a Raliegh Burner re-production as new BMX, or a Turner Burner built up with some old tat?

Have a great Xmas the pair of you!
