I would like to tip my post person as they have gone above and beyond on several occasions during the year.

How do I do it, I don’t want to just hand the a £20 note, so how do I do it?

Put the £20 in a card in an envelope!?

Don't overthink it! 🙂

Stick it in a Christmas card, in which you can tell them how much you value their efforts and hand them that. More discreet than waving cash about, more personal and just a nice thing to do.

I'm just jealous you've even got one. No letter deliveries here for about 1.5 weeks now.

Meanwhile all RM do is put out a national statement saying "we might not be able to deliver six days a week in certain postcodes".

I suspect they have been blocked from hiring the usual Xmas temp staff to save money.

Anyway, yep just stick the £20 in a card and hand it over with a smile.

Every Wednesday for 6 years our binmen have waved to our boys and the boys wave back. We wrap some biscuits and leave them on the bin (in a bag to keep them dry) . The driver gives me boys a selection box each.

I think he driver is the most excited at waving each week. I reckon he'll be devastated when my boys get too big for it.

As for your postie. Some cash in a card

This week my postie decided to put my parcel in a store behind the farmhouse a mile and half up the road. The next day I showed him the photo that was uploaded as proof of delivery. He swore blind he hadn't taken it and had no idea where that photo was taken. No apology, just a Gaelic shrug and walk away. Fortunately Royal Mail was able to give the sender the lat/long of where the photo was taken and I could go dig about and retrieve it.

My tip for my postie.....probably time you retired you useless responsibility avoiding twonk.

Our postie is great!
My wife just gave him a crisp tenner and he was genuinely really pleased with it (after repeatedly saying there's no need to).  Good people deserve a nice treat.

I just give mine a tenner 'for a drink'. Every year he looks surprised, but he is excellent.

If I left an envelope out with a card and a tip the postie would deliver it to the wrong place - ours is an absolute idiot. I can guarantee that on a weekly basis we'll get stuff for neighbours delivered (got 2 cards for next door one way and one for next door the other way in the porch that have been delivered to us in the last few days - always happens).

I thought they weren't allowed to accept tips greater than £30 but that would be per household I suppose

We have four great posties who work on rotation

Our postie always gets a bottle of wine at Christmas.

Great people.

Forgot, the waste, recycle binmen and the Evri guy will also get Christmas beer/wine.

Again, decent people.

Who are you going to address it to? To make sure it is the right postie that nicks it.

Apparently our bin wagon driver was really non-plussed with the £2 coin he was given. I don't know why he was upset, I told my missis she could give the driver a couple of quid but **** the rest of 'em!

Our postie is great guy, always smiling and friendly, and he knows the neighbours and us and always works our parcels out. Thank you for reminding me - box of chocs and a tip in an Xmas card! Bottle of wine could be a bit of an imposition as he covers his round on foot so he'd have to carry it another 5 miles or whatever...

I told ours I've left their Christmas bonus in a designated safe place.  With a bit of luck they'll go rummaging through the bins.

Trying to figure out which days we get our main postie. Regularly goes above & beyond to make sure folk get their stuff, even learning about how our neighbours brother has dementia so addresses the cards to other random street numbers. Definitely worth recognising when someone does a good job just because it’s a good thing to do

When I worked as a postie doing a job share I received about £200, a couple of bottles of whisky, a case of wine and a slab of beer. Small compensation for working for the absolute shit-show that is Royal Mail. One of our current posties quit yesterday - we had 3 days of no ferries last week so the backlog is enormous and RM expected it to be cleared in regular working hours.
