[#13535897]

I have old Thule roof bars for my now dead Mondeo and I want to get some new fittings to re-use the bars on my wife's Fiesta. I think all I need is new roof fittings.

Are there any Thule gurus out there with recommendations of a website with the details I need. I thin I just need new bar clamps and roof fitting kit

Halfords (shudder will give the you the kit numbers you need. Just don't buy them from there out of principle, my recent experience of their customer service doing this was horrendous.

Just check you existing bars are still compatabile with the newer clamps, although compared to the clamp / feet pack rpices the bars are the cheap bit.

If you have bars with slots in the underside the the latest footpacks and fitting kits will fit. Thule bars are several different lengths - 118cm and 127cm being the most common. You may be able to to use a longer bar on a car designed for a shorter one i.e a 127 instead of a 118 but generally not the other way round. Also going up two sizes is normally not possible as the underside slots are not long enough.

As someone said the footpack is the most expensive, then the bars then the fitting kit. New fitting kits don't fit older footpacks.

The three main footpacks are flushrail, fixed points and under door clamp - there is also a raised rail but not many cars have those any more (unfortunately).

Every flush rail has a different profile so requires a dedicated fitting kit.

You will need: bars, footpack, adapter kit.  You have the bars, the footpack might fit your new vehicle but probably won't, the adapter kit is very model-specific.

Courtesy of roofbox, as linked above, only had to get new adaptors (£45) to move bars from Jaguar I-Pace to Ford Fiesta. Officially the bars are longer than spec’d for the Fiesta, but all fits with no issues other than not blindly following the “number settings” for the width of the foot packs on the Fiesta.

Thanks

How did I forget Roof box company 🤦. I've emailed them

@cougar - They're your old bars and are still perfectly functional
