I'm not having a pop, but I've never seen this on any other Forum I've used other than STW.
(Other than threads that aren't safe to open at work (adult content) etc. )

Why is it so popular here, it doesn't seem to add anything generally.

Sure I can, I found a case of Zipfer and a bag of pies in the kitchen, not sure how they got there, but after spending an hour or so with them, I'm certainly content 😉

It's due to people realising there are some conventions to be followed that make you more easily understood, but not quite being bothered enough to learn how they work. 🙂
