Im a relatively large chap, not fat specifically but certainly not slim! The problem I have is that I'm looking for some lined baggies that are a bit waterproofy to get to work (instead of my lycra!) so I was looking at the Altura Gravity shorts. Problem is that I have been to try them out at Evans and in order to get them over my thighs I need the XXL, at which point my waistband is pretty loose, and even then they bind on my thighs a little when I position myself on a bike. This usually means a builders bum isnt far away unless you tighten the waistband to the point that you lose lower-limb feeling first 🙂
So are there any other fellow large-legged riders with baggies that don't fall down at the rear or bind on your legs, or require you to buy a waistband 2 sizes too large? I have this problem with jeans too - 38" waist to get them over my damn thighs and then need a belt to pull in 4" of slack waistband!
my endura zymes too, had to be large for the same reason, found the swobo stuff a fair bit baggier
I've got 29" thighs and my Endura are a bit tight but my Altura are fine and they are XL (not sure on the model)
Joxter - your thighs are the same size as mine but I couldnt even get into the XL Altura shorts!?!
Let me check when I sort out the laundry tomorrow, I do suffer from Largearseitis and it's a bugger getting jeans to fit without buying 3 waist sizes too big.
My Enduras are a L and it's a tight fit over the assos.
I just bought some Lusso XL shorts. Now I'm quite slim, 34" waist and have disproportionally large thighs and bum. It's muscle, right.
These shorts fit me fine on the waist but are really baggy on the thighs, almost too much so. They might do you.
Ooh thanks for the tip Samuri, and cheers for checking your laundry Joxster 😆
Alturas here, also got endura hummvee which are ok too, not quite as roomy as the alturas though.
I obviously have stupendously large legs/arse then!
Have the same problem, not too sure about waterproof but from personal experience.
1 - Fox (mid ranger espcially) are a perfect fit for those with massive thighs.
2 - Raceface are no good at all.
3 - The decathlon ~20yoyo shorts, had to rip the inner legs open for them to fit, was an emergency purchase one day based on the following
4 - decathlon ~45yoyo shorts with removable liner fit perfectly and are excellent.
I have the same problem being a chick.
I've got some ludicrously expensive Oakleys that fit a treat - I too suffer from big thigh/arse syndrome. Tried some Sombrio ones - looked good on the rack, didn't fit over the thighs. At all.
Not sure all the Oakley zips/vents pockets etc are strictly essential, but it does mean you can stroll into the office looking vaguely normal.
Now I'm quite slim, 34" waist
samuri have you heard of denial ??
I have the same problem being a chick.
I hope you're not insinuating anything 😆
saccades - Fox sound promising. Certainly I've looked at some of their shorts online and they appear to have disproportionately large leg'oles which I was interested in.
sfb - if samuri isn't slim I've got no hope!
Thanks all, I now have a spreadsheet going 🙂
I've seen the answer for this - a big roll of cling film - but obviously you need the opaque version if you are not to frighten onlookers...
Where do I buy opaque cling film 😯 😆
Just checked and my Altura's are XL.
Hmmm one of us is telling porkies about their thigh size then 😀
