for example to download a popular tv series...if you pay for the faster download speed, does it actually work? I thought it would be limited to the download speed of my internet?
cant be bothered to wait 1hr!

Do you mean rapidshare/megaupload type sites? RS is much faster when you pay for an account, and you don't have to wait between files. It is of course still limited by your connection, but free downloads are speed capped at the server end.

yes, exactly that. Its not the rapidshare one, but another. I think our connection here can take it so will pay for a day - hopefully get them downloaded in that time!
