It seems like a depressing lurch from last year to a new plague infested one.

Personally I'm going to set a goal in numbers this year.
365 Days.
100 surfs.
100 bike rides.

It's optimistic.. but this year feels like it needs optimism, distraction and some goals.

So what's everyone else looking forward to?

See friends and family.
The allotment.
Working from home a lot more in the new garden office.
Mo riding and running and getting educated on general body fitness.
More BBQ cooking...oh yes.
Reading the Hours Heresy books...all of them...
More warhammer 40k gaming

A family holiday...

So much to look forward to.

Seeing my niece and nephew growing up.
Still having my parents.
Finding a new job.
Hopefully moving out of the city and getting closer to nature (dependant on point 3).
Big days out on the bikes again.
Spending time with friends, old and new.
Having a few adventures with my 40th birthday project.
Finally being able to ditch the face masks (dependant on everyone else behaving and making correct decisions).

But most importantly: Finding things to laugh about.

Learn/refresh some programming (+related) skills (doing a Javascript course at the moment, the plan is learn Kotlin next)

That's most of it, really.

Looking forward to live music making possibilities being restored (orchestra and wind band).
Lots more bike riding.
Oh and getting my personal unicorn - I assume it's stuck in the backlog of post.

I not wasted my time during the pandemic and have got the hang of using chopsticks. I am going dining out for a very long time eating spicy food cooked by other people.

Seeing my family in France - multiple barriers to this now 🤨

Start enjoying my job again. Teaching has not been fun this year!

Play some gigs with the band I started back in January.

Just having a beer with some mates 😟 one would do, nothing crazy.

Hopefully 2021 will see me do my first mtb ride since 2015.....bike is almost back to life now.

I've got an 8 day old niece, so looking forward to seeing her.

.....realistically though, it's not really shaping up to be a particularly good one.....I've a horrible feeling that I'm going to have to completely abandon my music career in order to survive financially.

5 day gravel tour of Lochaber and Ardnamurchan (thinking of calling it the 'Dead End Loop' considering the number of dead end roads and tracks it connects).

Multiple big days out in preparation for the above ^

Raid Pyrenean late July (Covid/Brexit allowing...)

Changing jobs (or at least somehow extricating myself from the steaming turd of a project that has been my sole focus for three years).

Seeing my mum who is (probably quite happily) in isolation up on the West coast.

Overall, much to look forward to considering the circumstances

Hurting less and finding a market for the 10,000 "I love 2020!" coffee mugs I invested in last December

Recovering from mental health hole, getting some work, moving out of my mum's house, having a social life or interaction with people outside these 4 walls, riding my mountain bike occasionally.

That would do, feels very distant at the moment. Dancing and hugging friends feels like a ludicrous fantasy.

Well so far this year is already better than last - I was at my dad’s side as he lay in a hospital bed this time last year...he passed away the next morning 😔.
Riding bikes with mates in the sun and drinking cold beer, ideally somewhere like the Lakes. A Greek island sailing holiday bumped to this year as cancelled last year, a trip to Scotland in the van is now a vague possibility after being canned last year. Seeing my bro and nephew after not seeing either since February last year - camping somewhere. Some kind of normality returning at some point (made more difficult with some of the ****tards about though).

Seeing family and friends in person not on a screen is the main one
Get to go on the holidays that were cancelled last year, didn't take any refunds just kept moving them.
Ride with people! Looking at my strava I rode with 2 people since hit the north event.

The wife going back to work so I can make the most of my shift pattern at work
