Looks like I will be in Dallas for few days next week. Other than doing Debbie any top tips for a couple of nights stay - a good restaurant or two. Not sure where I am staying probably near the airport rather than downtown

I thought the Sixth Floor Museum was excellent (place where Kennedy was shot from). For outlet shopping, Grapevine Mills is huge.

Yep, but unfortunately, that's about it. I used to spend a lot of time there for work and if I never see it again, it'll be too soon. You could always go over to Fort Worth where the "real" cowboys go for a bit of dancin'.

Go see the South Fork Ranch? I don't know if it close, but Texas isn't that big is it?

Alternatively, just go visit a different shooting range every night. Texans love guns. A lot.

Hmnnn .... that good eh!

I used to need to travel to Houston frequently when living in NYC and after perhaps two trips maybe just the one I hoped I would never have to go back again.

Not sure going to a shooting range would be a good idea - just been off sick for two months with depression 😆

Texas Rangers are in Arlington, just south of Airport, you'll have to check the schedule mind you.

GJP, it's not as bad as Houston which is one of the most godawful cities I've ever visited. There is one street downtown with lots of decent enough bars there. There was an Irish bar which wasn't an Oirish bar if you know what I mean which attracted all the Europeans in town. Go down there for a beer and if you like mexican food, I've never tasted any like I had in Texas. So chin up, not that bad. And texans are actually a friendly bunch which they combine with an overt racism in the way that only they can.

If it's roughly the same place it was when I was there Deep Ellum is the area to go. Pretty civilised and European feeling for redneck country.

I lived 5 years in Houston, and Dallas seemed like the height of sophistication and culture to me.

I lived in Houston for 6 years, and used to visit Dallas, a souless city. The best thing to do is go to Austin, 6th st, you`ll have fun there.....

My cousin lives in Austin, so if I had the choice, I'd probably go and see him instead of mucking around in Dallas. Although my dad does have some friends in Houston with a ranch, so I'd probably go there and ride for a few days as well.

Since you know neither of these two people, I'd say you were limited to drinking and eating Mexican food.

I thought Dallas was pretty dull myself. Go and see where Kennedy was shot, nip over to Fort Worth. Yep, you've done it all. Most people were pretty friendly though.
