Have a look/listen to the Trojan Roots compilation albums. They tend to be pretty cheap and are good for tasters of reggae sub-genres..

I like it low and heavy and rootsy myself if at all possible..
Otherwise, Midnite are pretty good for current roots stuff.

Are people aware that David Rodigan has a 2 hour reggae / dub show on Radio 1 Extra on Sunday Evening it is a gold mine of good music.

Saw him play in Exeter in January, just can't beat reggae played on a big sound system.
