Yes goggle fit is important. An older helmet of mine used to just press slightly on the top of my goggles pushing them down onto my nose which was irritating.

It's for mrs deadly. We've got a House of Ashley round the corner from us so we'll dig out her goggles and go up for a shufty. Thanks.

A friend of mine has a Nevica helmet....a friend who was in the ski industry was suggesting they are dodgy (seeing he got it for £20) but don't think he was serious. Couldn't see any difference between it and others myself.... and he liked it.

Kit advice for a fashionably challenged nearly 40 year old please.

I'm looking for some new snowboard pants to go with black+red Westbeach jacket.
Even I can see that my current green Burton Cargo ones clash horribly - plus weightloss means they are too big these days and at the end of their life anyway.

So, what goes better.

The Bonfire Arc pants in "Red Rum"?

[img] [/img]

Or the more muted Burton Southside in Crimson:

[img] [/img]

Any other suggestions or "colourways"?

The Westbeach Upper Levels Clamato pants would be perfect match colour-wise, but I'd feel a bit of a fanny in Westbeach+Westbeach. Plus my mates jacket is Clamato so it would look like I'd nicked his pants 😀

Looks like you nicked the pants from someone 6 inches taller than you! 😯

So, what goes better.

Mmmm, what colour are your goggles / boots / binders / topsheet / bottom sheet.
One can never co-ordinate too much you know.
Top ones FTW btw.

Black! The fashionably challenged default colour.

[img] [/img]

Black helmet, black goggles (usually the blueish lens), black gloves, black bindings, black topsheet (with coloured squares)

They have to go with the snowboard too Graham. And the boots. And the bindings. Oh and your luggage, don't forget your luggage.

Badly colour coordinated is spot on in my opinion- makes it look like you bought stuff as you wore it out and you chose it based on performance- which of course you did.

And the answer to your question is the second set look better - and on that basis get the first one.
.

.
Edit: looking at the photo it's all a bit Alan Partridge goes snow boarding. I think you need some neon colour clashes. 😉

Now, now, this isn't very enduro.
Needs more fluro.

That jacket looks like an anorak. Which kinda suits a Steezy like yo Gee2DaEss. 😛

Something more colourful like the Sochi outifts?

I'll have you know that's a 20k/30k Cocona backcountry [s]anorak[/s] technical shell. 🙂

Yup, bright pants all the way. My yellow four square pants are quite simply the coolest (and biggest)snowboarding pants I'll ever buy.
That Socchi kit is proper enduro, a mate of mine was a gamesmaker or the Paralympic winter games, he still wears his stash to work when its cold 😮

Thanks folks. Button pushed on the top set.
They look like the better trews anyway. 15k/10k with a brushed lining. Cosy.

Just back from Maryhofen - snow wasn't too bad, bit of a thin snowpack and some dodgy avalanche conditions in some areas limited backcountry stuff, but did have a great day out with a guide.

Yesterday was nice out. This morning was cloud and drizzle so I sat playing guitar as Instructors in boot-length coats lead trails of classe-neige down. The good news is that lots of snow is forecast, the bad news being that it'll be horrible out for days and then the avalanche risk will be five.

Sorry to p*ss on your Bonfire (trousers) GrahamS but you should have gone darker IMHO. But I'm sure you'll look R.A.D either way.

Anyone else suffer from tight hip flexors? I had some lessons last week and it was pointed out that I was struggling a little with body separation and turning from the hip because I have very tight hip flexors. Anyone recommend some stretches/exercises?

Very common for cyclists - there are some good videos of appropriate stretches on YouTube. Look for a stretch which is an extension of a lunge.

Gorgeous conditions in Meribel this morning. Hard, fast pistes, a bit of soft stuff off the sides and sunshine galore. All change tonight though. The next few days will mainly be spent shovelling snow and riding the big board. Mahoosive dump of snow forecast...

Balls, I've got a lairy Blue/Aqua jacket and black trous, still I may spend a fair amount of time upside down so it'll all pan out!

I'm not traveling till Saturday so have 2 days left of work after this and all I've been able to do is check snow reports and details of the resort all day long. ROLL ON THE WEEKEND!!!!

Black helmet, black goggles (usually the blueish lens), black gloves, black bindings

Black Jacket, Black Merinos, Black Pants and Black boots here ...

If I had any hair left I'd be using "Goth Juice... the most powerful hairspray known to man. Made from the tears of Robert Smith"

Today hopefully sees the end of a record breaking warm spell here in B.C. - so much so that many of the local cat-ski Ops are closing down for the next week as everying has turned to ice. Supposed to be some more snow on its way towards the weekend, but it will take some huge dumps to get conditions back to normal - still ... it's better than working! 🙂

Anyone in Whistler who wants to appear in a snowboard tutorial video? Got this email today :

Welcome to Snowboard Addiction

Hey,

Sorry for the late notice. We're filming tutorials tomorrow (January 29th) at Whistler Blackcomb and would love to have our customers as examples. Meet outside the roundhouse for 9, learn how to ride down our icy conditions, break for lunch and film more in the afternoon, maybe some basic park stuff.

Just show up outside the roundhouse for 9AM (I'll be wearing blue pants and a black jacket). Btw, check out our last ride day

Stoked to ride with you
- Nev

They make really good videos so some free tuition of some very very good riders. Stoked!

Dude! C&A finest.
Deffo old school awesome. You'll need a monoski and an unasuit with those badboys.
FWIW I had a very similar pair with fluro orange frames!

Well me new Bonfire pants arrived. Not quite as bright red as the photos, I think they look pretty good. Seem like nice quality. They are proper old skool baggy though so that'll take some getting used to.

Look at what I just found hidden away! Old school awesome, or nu skool enduro-fluo?

Yep, proper old skool, needs to be paired with a fluoro onesie fartbag for maximum ironic effect.

Welcome to Snowboard Addiction

I've watched a few of their videos on YouTube. A lot of them are a bit crap, but there is the odd bit of good info.

Today hopefully sees the end of a record breaking warm spell here in B.C. - so much so that many of the local cat-ski Ops are closing down for the next week as everying has turned to ice.

Come on Whistler - not this year. Please not this year! 🙁

Bombjack, when I last wore them skiing, pretty sure I was in a onesie!

Oh, and monoskis were still cool! Still are, I reckon, in an old school retro way.

Right, has anyone skied Bridger Bowl or Big Sky in Montana? Might be able to tack a weekend of skiing on to a work trip coming soon.

CFH old school awesome. It was part of my 50 things for my 50th to get my Salomon GS skis with the orange bottoms out and do a day on them, sadly injury scuppered that for that year but it's still on the list. My "onesie" went to the bin and I'm still gutted I left my SX91 Equipes behind at chalet and a mate forgot to bring them. 1994 Lilehammer commemorative Dale Nordic sweater had an outing this year although too warm to wear it much. I could be on a "hoarder" show 😳

Objection. Monoskis have never been cool.

If you want to snowboard then face sideways like a normal person 😀

Memories, memories

C&A ski stuff - go rodeo, my low point was a blue and pink outfit (mid 80s)
Killy stuff - when it was the pinnacle (80s again!)
Monoskiing off the Cme de Carron (V Thorens) slightly pissed in a white out
Blizzard and Atomic arc's in 203s
