I know it is now an iconic Christmas tradition, but am I the only one to think that if I was a kid taken to the North Pole by a magical flying snowman, I would hope Santa would come up with something better than a poxy scarf as a present?

Maybe the kid will ask him when he meets up with him again tomorrow night (ch4 @ 20:00!)...saying that, it was made 30 years ago...our expectations were no doubt much simpler back then!

Can't watch the snowman without thinking of the irn bru advert.

Our little un watched "Father Christmas", also by Raymond Briggs, in the car on the way to the grandparents.

A grumpy, "blooming" sweary, mildly xenophobic English Santa.

Brilliant 😀

I just don't think it's going to be the same if it's not introduced by ziggy, loaded with more chemicals than the underside of a Teesside carpark...
