Ok so internet works in the morning. Go shopping return to no internet.
Our WiFi router has reverted back to being zyxel rather than the name we gave it.
Plugged laptop into the virgin box still no joy. Phoned virgin and they reckon its my laptop. They probably know more about it than me , but seeing as we rarely use the laptop and it was off when we went shopping it seems odd.

Did you have a power cut by any chance when you were out?

My virgin superhub did a factory reset on itself when it last did a firmware upgrade.

Sounds like the router has lost its settings and is now set to its factory default settings.

Surely plugging straight into the virgin box should still work?
Do the computers at air traffic control just go wrong of their own accord?
I ****ing hate them.

It sounds like the virgin box is a 'modem' alone - eg not a router.

So I think that the problem is that your router has reset itself. You'll just need to get it set up again.

The Virgin box if set to use a third party router switches off things like DHCP, so your laptop wont work like normal.
I think you need to go to a different IP Address to log in and turn the routing, DHCP etc back on.
If you go to the virgin support pages, it should have info on there on how to do it. Its pretty straightforward IIRC.
