How is it that a tube of toothpaste can spend maybe 3 days looking like this:

Then instantly transforms into this, skipping all intermediate stages of emptiness:

but still continues to dispense toothpaste for seemingly weeks on end?

I’m that much of a tight fisted git that I’ll sometimes take a pair of scissors to a seemingly empty tube. Just so I can get every last drop of paste. I don’t know whether I should feel shame or pride in my actions
