They would be fined for throwing rubbish onto the track.

She has been remanded in custody , so as to protect her from people who didnt share her opinions, and there going to be loads in prioson who probably dont share her opinions as well.

Luckily we don't have lynch mobs in Croydon. Someone filmed it and a woman has been arrested.

Personally I saw someone who was distressed and possibly needs help. I don't think it was just a case of someone with strongly held views. She quite likely needs to be receive some sort of punishment though.

Drunk? She had her kid with her didn't she?

I wonder how the poor black girl behind her felt. Amazing but don't forget, plenty of people do share her views. Not on this forum obviously.

Working class white communities feel alienated, disenfranchised and last in line for resources such as social housing, according to research published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

The study interviewed people in Birmingham, Coventry and London and found they felt disconnected from the political process and that their voices were not heard.

I don't really care what their views are so long as they're not bawling them in my ear in public transport.

Edit: but having said that, I'm not sure the criminal justice system is the best way to address the stupidity or antisocial behaviour or mental imbalance or whatever of the mother of a young child.

Why doesn't our Government do something about immigration though?

More and more we'll see people who aren't 'racist' but will fall into this category because they'll be reacting due to their economic hardship.

I think she went off on one because somebody wanted to use the empty seat next to her, on a crowded train, and they weren't English therefore have decreased rights in the use of public transport, or something like that.

I know exactly what we need to do about immigration, declare an amnesty on all illegal immigrants in exchange for full citizenship rights, various (unreliable) figures claim there are at least half a million in London.

Get them on the books, paying tax, access to healthcare etc and contributing to the social contract and all that, rather than being exploited and lining the pockets of black marketeering criminals.

What do you mean? They aren't racist but think that black people cannot be British and that non Brits are to blame for the nations ills?

Hora - immigtration into the UK from outside the EU is low and its very difficult to get visas - especially if you are non white

Why doesn't our Government do something about immigration though?

from what I've seen, a lot of the people who work hardest in this country for the least money are immigrants. They're doing the rest of us a favour and I think further immigration ought to be encouraged.

there's too many people in this country who turn work down because they 'don't fancy it' or they're better off on benefits.

As Uncle Jezza said - Most immigration is from within the EU. We're constitutionaly bound to allow it. For the same reason as you could go swanning off to Germany tomorrow, should you fancy.

It ain't going to get better any time soon Hora. Despite our 2.6 million unemployed, our unemployment rate is peanuts compared to say Greece or Spain. And with free movement of people within Europe, I'd expect a lot more immigrants pitching up. With the inevitable downward pressure on available jobs and wages, and the resulting 'racism' from people looking for easy answers

Interestingly, I've had two friends that have gained British citizenship over the past fortnight.

One is a Kiwi - his mother was originally from Cumbria, but he was born and raised in New Zealand. He didn't have to take the test. He often expresses a slight sense of dispair over his mother ranting about immigrants to the UK, saying that it should be made miles harder, especially for those outside of the EU, and less consideration given to people just because they've married or had kids to give them a connection to the UK. He pointed out that this would make it harder for her sons to stay in the UK or get citizenship, and apparently she said, "Ah, but no - that different". 😆

The other is Greek, and she did have to do the test. She got 23/24, and is now an expert on the history of British immigration and how our political system is structured. Personally I think they should have allowed her to skip the test because she bakes ace cakes.

Firstly, i think the woman is bang out of order and needs help.

Imagine you are in a council house and you have 3 kids and a 2 bedroom house. You would have to wait a long bloody time to get a bigger house. Years in certain parts of the country. A family of immigrants then move into the 3/4 bedroom house across the road that you have no chance of getting. How would you feel?

Now I am not anti immigration and I am certainly not racist. If anyone is willing to work in this country and contribute then by all means come over. I welcome them with open arms.

I do however, think that it isn't right to come over and live off benefits. These people are in the minority but it shouldn't be allowed full stop.

Immigrants of the illegal variety should be sent home and told that they may come back when they have went throught the proper procedures.

My English is irrelevant and nothing to do with you

Niether are your views on immigration but if you chose to air either those or your use of English on a public forum then you'll have to accept people might find fault in them?

I could have made a long post about 'illegal' immigrants and how they are often fleeing significant persecution in their home countries and are only made illegal because of their failure to follow convoluted procedures that have been put in place specifically to stop succesful asylum claims. Instead I chose to make a light hearted comment about your sentence structure and choice of words.

Suddenly Mr Angry makes an appearance and gets all insulty. Oh well.

OK ill reign it in. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Picking me up on my grammar is just petty.

If some people were to think outside their own middle class bubble, then they might be able to understand why people feel the way they do. Most dont bother and just call everyone a racist who disagrees with immigration.

That sort of timescale would be about right.

While I do agree with you, the immigrant family should also take responsibilty. They should not be given priority.

I do however, think that it isn't right to come over and live off benefits. These people are in the minority but it shouldn't be allowed full stop.

Any figures for how many immigrants do this? What visa form do you need for "Extended Stay to Doss on Benefits"?

How exactly do you deal with immigrants who are made redundant some time after coming to the UK (of which there are no doubt quite a few at the moment)? How about those that have a debilitating accident or illness after coming here and working for ten years?

Also I take it you realise that in the case of asylum seekers they are not actually allowed to work and are forced onto benefits until their case is heard?

Immigrants of the illegal variety should be sent home and told that they may come back when they have went throught the proper procedures.

Even if that means sending them home to be executed?

While I do agree with you, so should the immigrant family. They should not be given priority.

Isn't it more a matter of the 'native' family that you speak of already have a roof over their head, whereas the 'immigrant' family are homeless, therefore more in need of the property? Therefore they would be classed as higher priority, as they are more in need of a home. Same goes for anyone who's classed as homeless versus somebody already housed.

When I was a kid it seemed obvious to me that the world would one day be just one big country and everyone would be free to go where ever they wanted and we'd all have a similar out look on life and there would be no wars.

This is an inevitable and good process. For instance in Ancient Greece there were massive difference between say Athens(democracy + strange practises with teenage boys) and Spata(Sort of proto communision fairly equal rights all(unless you were a slave) including girls but killed their children if they seemed weak).

These massive cultural difference were fertile ground for conflict and the ancient world was a world constantly at war. Now adays most people round the world agree on the basic human rights ie slavery wrong/killing people wrong/infanticide wrong.

This has lead to reduced conflict. Also Britain particularly the English have done very well out of this process most of the world currently uses English as a second language !

However these process take time, the unions between England, Wales and Scotland took hundreds of years and several. Although obviously the process of integration would be quicker now.

I also thought the day when we had one world government would be quite along way off and in my life time Britain would be remain a largely culturally British and probably with a racial British majority. Ie there would be people from other backgrounds here but they would have a Northern/London/Brummy accent.

However in some areas Im not sure this is the case accents have changed to be more like other countries, whole communities look for partners abroad.

Now in my mind it isnt fair that some areas of the world are poorer than others so I can understand why people want to come here and I would do the same if I was them and frankly there isnt much the government can do in my eyes to stop people arriving.

Now most of this strife is actually caused by the people coming being poorer than the people here. In my mind the way to solve this is by making "over there" richer.

So I think the governments round the world need to stop pretending that we are separate countries and just try and get on fixing the worlds problems together.

Ideas like having separate tax laws in separate countries are ridiculous we should have 1 tax law and apply it all round the world. So that countries like Switerzland are nt stupidly rich for no reason. Worldwide trade unions should be formed to fight for workers rights every where etc etc.

To stop the brain drain countries like the UK and USA should reverse immigration policies so only the most needy are allowed in. The clever bright people should be encouraged to stay in their own countries of birth to improve the standard of living their.

Hopefully then immigration would maybe not lessen but would be more equal with people just swapping places. I mean people come from the Midlands move to work in London without problem. The problem is when large groups(not individuals) of people with very different economic and very different cultural practises move on mass to another country.

Right i will bow out now. We are all entitled to our opinions. I am not, for one minute, saying I am 100% correct. No two cases of immigration will ever be the same, and each should be taken on its own merits.

I certainly don't think people should be sent home to be executed.

There is a big difference between asylum seekers and illegal immigrants. Being forced into benefits is not their fault, so why would I have a problem with them? I don't.

To wasawasawasawasawasaw. I am sorry for jumping down your throat. I only got a B in Higher English and my grammar is far from perfect. Im sure it causes offence to many.

You can't just do that! I've gone and got an imaginary family now! with 3 imaginary kids to look after in this pokey imaginary house with only 2 bedrooms! In the same way I have a responsibility for my creation of these kids you have a responsibility of the scenario you have created! What am I supposed to do now!? I mean I've just gone and imagined myself a nice little GT6 and now the MOT is due! Honestly if it was for that nice imaginary family across the road who are always helping out, I don't know what I would do. I think they are from Rwanada or soemthing. They are ever so kind, their imaginary kids play lovely with mine. Honestly I don't know what goes on in their heads sometimes! But anyway, i think in their culture food is really important and they are always calling mine in to have supper with them and everything. Still, just because they help out, doesn't mean you can just step away from your responsibilities!

I'm not trying to imply anything. Your original post talked of an immigrant family with no mention of them being in the UK illegally. Hence why several people took issue with it.

If you're now clarifying that then fair enough but don't blame me for just reading what you typed!

Well thats completely at odds with UK immigration policy where very few folk are allowed in at all unless they have skills we are short of

it isn't allowed.

There was a problem in Glasgow with housing immigrant families whereby a whole lot of houses were done up and then immigrants housed in them. Led to uproar from weegies about why their houses werent getting anything done to them for years and the outcome was hatred and bad feeling towards the immigrants resulting in the fatal stabbing of Dirsat Sagh.
my first point about illegal immigrants and the law was in response to hels suggestion that they all be given immunity etc.

Imagine you are in a council house and you have 3 kids and a 2 bedroom house. You would have to wait a long bloody time to get a bigger house. Years in certain parts of the country. A family of immigrants then move into the 3/4 bedroom house across the road that you have no chance of getting. How would you feel?

if its been allocated on basis of need as it is its fine - you know why we have so few council houses don't you - sold off

Now I am not anti immigration and I am certainly not racist. If anyone is willing to work in this country and contribute then by all means come over. I welcome them with open arms.

Well thats completely at odds with UK immigration policy where very few folk are allowed in at all unless they have skills we are short of

I do however, think that it isn't right to come over and live off benefits. These people are in the minority but it shouldn't be allowed full stop.

it isn't allowed.

Well if all that youve said is acurate then I am wrong. I have obviously been misinformed.
