I’m having trouble with my iPhone and the GPX files in the new route guides,I’ve tried from both the website and the QR code in the magazine. When I download them they look like they are just text maybe HTML? When I click on them then click ‘open with’ it says no apps available. If I try to import from the OS app the file appears faint and not clickable. I downloaded another GPX viewer app to try importing to that with exactly the same result. I’m not at all techy so any suggestions welcome.
cheers Russ
Is this all the files, or just the Long Mynd one on the last issue? That was definitely broken - it contains the raw data but none of the xml tags that programs need to make sense of it. It was reported, but I don't know if it was ever fixed. Mark uploaded a working version to ViewGPX https://singletrackworld.com/forum/off-topic/stw-167/#post-13746942
It’s the Calderdale route too. Interestingly I followed that link to the one Mark posted and I get exactly the same result with that too, just like a text document that I can’t open or import. I’m a bit lost!

Actually GPX files are text files - you can open them with a text editor. If it won't load into an appropriate mapping app it's probably a faulty file.
I struggled with this too, could not load Mynd or Dunsop tracks on my Wahoo via phone (pixel 7a), both showed as HTML files. On my laptop (Edge) could download the Dunsop file no problem and loaded straight away on the Wahoo. The ViewGPX Mynd file my Wahoo could not load, I had to import into RidewithGPS and could then transfer to my Wahoo. So all sorted now 🙂
It’s a bit disappointing, I bought the two magazines mainly for the route guides for some fresh inspiration but if the downloads don’t work it seems a bit pointless, the only option I can see is to try and plot them into OS using the sketch map in the magazines.
nterestingly I followed that link to the one Mark posted and I get exactly the same result with that too
Ah yes, that file itself is actually correct but for some reason it downloads with two file types - .gpx.txt - so just rename it, deleting that final .txt and you'll be fine.
