just dropped through the letterbox 🙂 nice
good mix of stuff this issue, nostalgia, routes, bikes -- cuppa tea and a sit outside with the mag, excellent 👍
Yeah - mine arrived over the weekend - and I've read it cover to cover in just a couple of sittings. Really enjoyed this issue 👍
Like the layiut/design of this one too - seems like a different style to the past couple
Keeping mine until I go on holiday in a few weeks. Good to know its getting good reviews
Yup, a definite thumbs up from me too. Long Mynd, Youth development in the Dyfi valley, RSF, loooonnngggg descent. What's not to like.
Cheers STW
👍🏼
When I came back from Scotland, I was happy to find the latest magazine behind the door. When I read it I was even happier.
Normally I don't read much of the magazine, but this one had some great articles which I really enjoyed. Youth development and the frame builder were good, the Long Mynd brought back memories of times past and the readers bikes were nice to see.
Well done.
Ps I fofgot the RSF article maybe I should join. 🙂
I'll second all the comments above, and have marked up the Mynd ride on my map in anticipation of getting it done sometime soon; I thought I knew the area well, what with living only 20-odd miles away, but there's definitely a section north of the golf course around The Batch and Haddon Hill that I've never ventured onto.
As for the RSF, have been over the Wayfarer Track several times past the memorial to Robinson ('Er Cof am Wayfarer') which is always good value in the good, old fashioned bike ride sense.
And riding up/over Beinn Fhada sounds like a good game, well done on writing that up, Luke. Walked it a few years ago with camping kit.
Oh, mine's not arrived yet, from what you folks have said I will look forward to it.
Might save it for my Scotland trip in a couple of weeks, savour the anticipation.
@Mark - The GPX file for the Long Mynd ride doesn't seem to be valid. It's missing all of the xml tags.
A friend bought me a mid 80s Maverick for my 50th last year. Way back when it (or a version thereof) had been my first ATB. I can vouch for the comments regarding the brakes.
I think the latest issue is ace. I've just skimmed through the recent issues but this one hits the spot. In the past I looked for and found inspiration from mtb mags, but more recently it's been lacking, although that might be at least partly down to my advancing years 🤔. Reading this issue has got me thinking about a revisit to the Mynd, joining the RSF, and maybe a trip to Beinn Fhada! So all good 😀
@onewheelgood I'll look deeper into this but the file uploaded fine to here https://www.viewgpx.com/route/XKo7q4K6
The issue generally looked really nice when I flicked through it but the fonts used for the headings in the Olde:Nu were very hard to read, which is not ideal for text.
Just got home and found it in the letterbox. Had a quick flick through and it's certainly looking like a good one.Oh, mine's not arrived yet, from what you folks have said I will look forward to it.

Smells as good as always, too 🙂
Agree with the other comments; a very good issue. I like the old-new theme as control passes from Chipps to Benji.
Gallery is a great feature.
If I download the file from viewgpx, it's all fine. But from STW it's just the data, no tags:
Anyway, having had to miss the Batch Burner this year due to injury, I'll probably be giving it a go soon - once things have cooled down a bit.
I'm probably being a bit dense here, but if I scan the QR code in the mag I see a web page the same as that second screenshot. So just a lot of text.
How do I download the gpx file so I can then upload it to Ride with GPS or such? Or is that not what is being offered?
Cheers
Like the design BTW. And James' cover photo.

The one linked from the QR code is broken at the moment, but you can download a working copy of the file from the link that Mark posted above.

Thanks. For some reason when I tried the alternative link on android mobile (Opera) I got a .txt file, but it worked fine on a Chromebook. Cheers
I've just watched the film about the Dyfi Groms, really good to see something that started years ago is having such a positive impact and not just financially.
I’ve made short work of it it too. A cracking edition.
Probably the perfect timing with it arriving last week… too bloody hot to go out riding (unless you’re absolutely mental) but perfect weather for sitting with a beer in the sun with a good read.
Its almost as if they planned it! 😃
Good issue and I did the Long Mynd route on Saturday, despite riding there a lot, I actually experienced some nice new trails, brilliant stuff! I quite enjoyed the Carding Mill descent too as I normally avoid it, but I just chose the jankiest route that people couldn’t walk on so avoided all the walkers nicely 🤣
I had to save it on my MacBook and rename it a GPX before I could do anything with it.
