MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
I'm employed, but have had to do either a full or short tax return for the last 10 years or so now.
How long do i have to keep these records for, the file is overflowing and some are ripe for the shredder.
4 years I think
If I remember rightly (and I hope I do!) you have to retain Corporation Tax records for 6 years from end of the company's accounting period.
I'd be very surprised if personal tax was anything other than six years as well - presumably from the end of the tax year.
the info you need is on the HMRC Website at the bottom of the page.
It looks like you only need to keep records for 22 months from the end of the relevant tax year to which they relate.
