Considering one for the kids (6 & 4). I like the more active games gig them. I guess we need 2 controllers, but what games and other odds and sods?

The sports games are great (wii sports / sports resort)
I'd highly recommend TortureDeathKill4, the under-fives especially love it.
Although I've heard that TDK5 will have the eagerly anticipated 'Waterboarding' feature. That might not be out until the Spring though.

At that age the Wii is perfect.
Get the Rabids game, it's great fun and very funny. Also the Mario games are ace.
2 controllers is a must as is 2 steering wheels for Mario Kart. If your getting a new Wii then you'll get the Wii motion plus controllers which are fantastic! Wii sports is awesome too and best of all you get it for free.
Wii Sports is so addictive. Great gameplay for all ages, had some good times at uni starting the night with "wii sports drinking" 😛

just got one for the kids for xmas not tried it yet but the rules seem to be
young kids = wii
teenagers = xbox
adults = ps3
Drunk adults = Wii

Yeah, get one 'free' with a phone and have well over the RRP added to your contract tariff.
As for Wii's - they are great family entertainment. My favourite is Mario Kart played online.
