We will be in touch
I'm about to scrap my virgin TV contract in favour of freeview, which means I'll lose my triple XL service savings deal, making my broadband and phone expensive. So I'm looking to switch and Talk Talk looks very cheap indeed. Free calls to UK landlines at all times (tempting, as I have a stutter, and the programme I'm on means I make lots of calls to places to practise, 10 or 15 a day sometimes) and cheap as chips monthly fees.
Any experience of them? One thing I like about virgin is it just works pretty much all the time, can the same be said of talk talk?
Cheers
TBH every Broadband/phone supplier has there lovers & haters (normally for good reason), so name one that doesn't, off-hand these guys seem to do what it says on the tin.
We live in the sticks a bit but haven't had an issue to complain about when using them.
I liked "It's My Life", one of the better tracks of 1984 I thought.
I've had Talk Talk phone and broadband for over two years with no problems - apart from the fact I just can't get them change the date of my DD payment - the day before payday is not really good for me!
Having been with Talk Talk, and having tried to leave them, I would rather gouge out my eyeballs with a spoon than have anything to do with them ever again.
I've had talk talk for 3 years now, the mrs loves it because she has the option to ring her sister in Aus for free.
I've only had one problem with the broadband that was resolved by fitting a new router that they sent me 🙂
Thinking about leaving as our "great deal" seems to be getting more expensive than BT?? Not looking forward to actually getting them to release me..
cheers for all the replies, that BBC article is interesting. As I said I like virgin, so I might see if they can do me a deal on Broadband and Phone...

Same here, now with, dare I say it on here, SKY & a very happy bunny with their customer service so far.
3 routers in 2 years, crackly line and gradually degrading signal from 8mb to 3.5mb by the end
swapped to virgin and much happier
I did a deal with virgin to stop paying for phone. The best bit was, we still kept most stuff on TV including the on demand.
They will do an unlimited minutes bundle too.
mind made up!
i'll stick with Virgin, if i can get a good enough deal
Just NEED to add my little say/rant to this thread.
Have just moved from Talk talk due to their inability to manage any customer services. My wife (her name is on the bill)has spent hours, and i mean at least 7+, trying to have our router problems resolved. Just got passed from one operator to another via endless waiting inbetween operater pick ups. Eventually got through to someone vaguely helpful and could hear people in the background saying "whatever" "get a life", even though my wife was being nice. Have written to them to complain, no response, then sent us a bill for 80 quid for their services!!!
This thread has prompted me to contact ofcom.
Steer clear of Talk Talk.
excellent service round here
steady 8Mb, customer service was fine on the single occassion i had to contact them (whole village phones down due to cable theft)
no complaints at all, unlike the time i spent with BT.
but then i wont pay for TV so never considered Virgin or Sky.
i had talktalk tel and broadband for a number of years, there is no way on god's good green earth i would use that company again.
another option is to call sky and tell them you are with virgin and thinking of changing your providers (if you do phone, b'band and tv all the better) and ask them what deal they will do to get your business. i've just done that, and even though i already had tv with them they did me a stunningly good deal. would seem they need the business these days.
Hideous.
Plusnet have been good for the last 3 or 4 years, at least they answer the phone if the broadband drops.
We've been on Talk Talk (formerly AOL) for years and never had any problem with them although others do seem to have a different experience. For comparison local BT users have started a petition to get BT to improve their service (5Mbps day time and sometimes 50kbps evening download speeds) whilst from the same exchange TalkTalk never goes below 5Mbps and can give me over 10Mbps during the day. But YMMV.
Sent from my TalkTalk ADSL line.
I liked "It's My Life",
I love Spirit of Eden, fantastic album, one of the few bands who got less and less commercial as they went on.
I was with Pipex who were bought out by talktalk, planned on moving as I had read all the horror stories but it's been fine. In fact it's actually been faster - speed jumped from 16 to 20meg.
Such a shame.........one of my all time top tracks......
All the albums are being re-issued, according to 6Music. Now all I want is for the band to reform and make a new album. Luscious Jackson have just got together again after 13 years, so how about it, guys?
Oh, Talk Talk phone network you say, wouldn't touch them with yours, after all the horror stories about their shonky customer service.
Had true comedy phone call from Talk Talk when I moved to our new house and BT were giving us problems.
"David" from India passed me onto "Steve" and then the line started breaking up whilst he was telling me of their excellent service.
Him: "Hello? Can you hear me?"
Me: "Yes, just about"
Line cuts off. He phones back.
Him: "Hello? Mr FeeFoo?"
Me: "Yes, hello, we got cut off"
Him: "Hello? Can you hear me?"
Cuts off again.
Great telecommunications from someone trying to sell me telecommunications.
In a recent of ofcom survey of all the BB and telephony providers guess who came out bottom?
Yep Talk talk.
The routers are notoriously unreliable not surprising when you see them ,they look like they cost all of 20p to make.
As part of my job I'm in a lot of people's houses and the over-riding consensus from the people who have had talk talk for either phone or broadband seems to be not to touch them with a barge pole.
I had a problem with Talk Talk a few months ago, spoke to a very nice customer service guy who listened and was patient. Problem sorted and me happy. I can't fault them on that.
Every talk talk user i come across (i might work for a large comms firm who have to sort talk talk shit out) i hear the same story there cheap ,but when things go wrong ,its like banging your head against a wall ,the amount of shit they feed there customers ,much worse than any other providers .
Been with thence since they started - had a few problems over the years. Early days the customer service was shoot, but these days they're as good as any IMO. Getting 12mb too and its uncapped. Happy
+1 for 'Spirit of Eden'. Best album of 1988.
Mark Hollis lives round the corner from me...no idea who supplies his broadband though.
A lot of hassle to save a few ££ a year.
False Economy ime and been stuck with talk talk for nearly 10yrs now but they won't let us gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Our wireless router arrived after about two months after we signed up with them and after numerous complaints from me, all of which promised a router was sent, another has been sent, another has been sen, another has been sent, etc. only one ever arrived btw.
When it did arrive, we couldn't get any Internet access between the hours of 7am and 10pm it seemed.
To really add insult to injury I tried to claim back money from bills from dial up (for internet access) when their broadband simply didn't work.
I won't even walk into a Carphone warehouse shop ever again let alone buy anything from them.
We have been with Sky since leaving T**k T**k and had absolutely no problems.
I only offer my experience of course and some may have had a better time than we did.
Avoid Talk Talk at all costs. I'd rather contract syphilis than have to deal with them ever again.
Customer service is stupefyingly inept when things go wrong. And things WILL go wrong, sooner or later.
