See where you are, politically speaking.

I just wonder how "safe" this test is, because it thinks i'm marginally libetarian and about a third of the way leaning towards the left. WHAT?? 😮

I'm a bit more authoritarian than Ghandi.

I seem to be to the left of the Dalai Lama 😯 . The graph pegged me as a strong libertarian lefty, apparently.

I always thought of myself as a centrist, with a just perceptible lean to the left. For all my faults at least I've not morphed into a right wing degenerate. Wahey!

Bloody hell, I'm Ghandi's twin brother and I've always though of myself as have having tendencies to being Judge Dredd when it comes to the justice side of things.

From what I could tell, I'm a proto commie with a strong distrust of state apparatus and the free market. Sounds confused...

Go me.

Are we all being totally honest filling this in?

Economic Left/Right: -3.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.15

I'd have expected to be far more to the right economically than that (maybe it's just that I'm further right than most of you lot). Not surprised to find I'm pretty libertarian though. The trouble is, I'm not totally convinced by their analysis at the end - is "no such thing as society" really more authoritarian that Nu-Labour?

If it is a US test many people in the UK will come out further to the left than they thought they would.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -8.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.74

Has a clear inbuild bias to authoritarian and right - so anyone genuinely neutral will come out as left / libertarian

I seem to remember this test, or something very similar being linked to an article on the BBC, about peoples voting habits, ie as a society we seem to vote far to the right of individuals actual political leanings. iirc the most convincing argument given for this was scare stories and the general fear factor in the media. It seems when it comes to voting day, that fear is a far stronger emotion than the possibility of positive action.

Would be interesting to know where the people who wrote this thought they were vs where we would put them.

Sounds about right to me, I am actually really a centrist libertarian (which gets mistaken for Thatcherite right winger by fools a tedious amount) but as above the test does have a bias somewhat.

More or less Scaredypants' twin, but some of the questions were a bit odd.

First-generation immigrants can never be fully integrated within their new country.

I agree, but from the point of view of an immigrant rather than a host. This will clearly change how the data can and should be interpreted.

Many questions were ambiguous in the fact that there was confusion between fact and opinion.

The only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders.

Providing the company is following legal practices or at any cost?

Those with the ability to pay should have the right to higher standards of medical care .

And have access to NHS or instead of NHS?

Etc, etc. Yes, I'm too analytical and have too much free time. 😉

I was somewhere near Ghandi et al when I took this last year.

Last year, I posted one of the questions on here as a new topic each day. Some of the discussion was really interesting.

So where is the 'neither agree nor disagree' option?

I got to question 3 or 4 and gave up - do I HAVE to have an opinion one way or another?
