Need a new tablet for work. (Live on compound)

I have an aging Apple iPad 2 and while still working fine I can't run a VPN on it anymore(a requirement for reading BBC news, Facebook , whatsapp and YouTube ) my installed ones have required upgrade and to upgrade I need a version of iOS that wont go on my iPad.

Moved my phone to android since then and been happy enough

So Budget say 150 bucks, less is better prefer it to be the same size as the iPad as that's a useful size and on android.

Seen any bargains ?

I love android. I've had a couple of android tablets, and..d.are I say it... I still think the iPad blows them out the water...

I swapped my ipad2 for a 9.7 iPad pro with a locitech keyboard - it's AMAZING!!!
Typing on a keyboard, and using the pencil to sketch - lovely...

nearer £850 though 😳

That obsolescence thing with iPads would annoy me. I'm still using my old lg g pad. I just put the latest android on it and its running perfectly. Had a couple of LG android devices now and they've been really nice. Nothing flashy, just decent quality and do the job.

iPad 2 was brought out in 2011. The fact that it has worked for you until now should tell you something.

What 'obsolescence thing'? Electronic technology moves on apace, sooner or later processors and available RAM cannot cope with the demands placed on them by the latest OS, so support is removed. This is a fact of life, irrespective of who makes the device. There are many Android devices that get no OS upgrades at all, unless the owner jumps through hoops to find upgrades.
I recently bought a new iPad to replace my iPad 3, which still works, but the demands placed on the poor thing by bigger and bigger web pages, and its, by current standards, minuscule amount of RAM made it frustratingly slow, this is just the way computers have always been; with desktops, you could at least stuff more RAM in, and do other upgrades, but eventually it's just not possible to upgrade any further, the fact my old pad is still functioning after five years is showing it's still useful, in the past I've thrown away a £2500 CRT monitor that was five years old, because the manufacturer no longer kept spares.
Things move on, get over it.

Conversely I have an iPad Air 2 and a Sony Z3 Compact tablet, and the iPad annoys me regularly, whereas the Sony ticks along nicely.

Maybe they do how ever seeing as I bought the iPad at a different point in my life when I wasn't traveling round Africa every other month.

Seeing how much stuff has been chored from colleagues I don't want to take a 600 quid device to Africa. Mainly because its my house insurance that takes the hit.

Maybe..
An iPad is the only apple thing i own..
I've been through the 'buy cheap buy twice' events enough in life to realise if something works,I can afford it, and I need it,I may as well go for it...

I got this one a few months ago, after reccomendations on here. Touch screen, keypad, very fast.....and reduced at the moment. The app store gives it all the android stuff you could need I think

I'm interested in this too, OP, but it looks like we've got some thread drift going on here. 😉

Android tablet for £150 recommendations please, peeps.

Amazon Fire HD8 for for £64.99 or HD10 for £179.99? Google Play can be loaded easily.

I've been through the 'buy cheap buy twice'

A £50 tablet is cheap. A £250 tablet is normal. An £850 tablet is extremely expensive. I would not recommend the £50 ones (except Fire 7") but £250 gives you something decent.

But the real point is that the OP set a £150 budget and then you sang the praises of your £850 tablet....

Second-hand iPad? Not sure if Android requirement is for price or if it’s a requirement for your VPN?

I happen to have one surplus to requirements that I’m going to be selling shortly... iPad Air with 32gb storage.

It works. I don't use it for games, just Netflix, Youtube etc

When it comes to Android my new preference is to work out whichever one comes with the minimum of bloatware.... Samsung is off my list for this reason alone.

This thread is hilarious.

OP - I want an android tablet for £150 because my ipad is obsolete.

First post - buy an ipad for £850.

Other posts - buy a second hand ipad (already obsolete)

I'm after the same as the OP so if anyone has any other suggestions I'm interested.

Best bet is to have a look on Hotukdeals and see what the hive mind there finds for you.

First post - [s]buy[/s] I've got an ipad that all in, cost £850. I'm happy with it as I prefer apple tablets to Android tablets. I've an Android phone,
and previous Android tablets weren't really cutting it.
This might be good for thought?
Highlighting it cost £850 with a degree of embarrassment makes me appreciate this isn't your budget

But hey ho...!

Samsung s3 tab here. Lovely bit of kit, pairs seamlessly with my phone for hot spot connectivity and Wi-Fi direct with my office printer. Still haven't pushed the button on the keyboard ad it's 120 squid...

I wandered past Cash Converters earlier and they had loads around this sort of price point.

My Nexus pickel c is still going strong and running swiftly, looks like it might get Oreo too. They look to have held their price well too though.
