MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
We have two ageing iPads, which the kids use, that could probably benefit with updating. So I've been looking at iPad 2 minis. They seem to be ok, but they're a few years old now, and I don't want them to be paper weights in a years time. Don't want to fork out for mini 4s. I have little knowledge of android, so if I went down that road for them, what should I be looking at? My only experience of PC powered stuff is minuscule - and they seem to become impossibly slow very quickly. Are tablets the same?
I love my Sony Z3 tablet.
Fast, lovely screen, ip67, takes micro sd cards. I've got dozens of films in mine on a 128gb micro sd card.
If you are going along the android route, don't be tempted by the £100 ones. You get what you pay for.
I've had my iPad mini 2 64gb coming up to two years it's still going strong but it will become obsolete
It was £249 currys Boxing Day deal, purchased Christmas Eve,
I don't think that model has gone much lower since, which for a device nearly two years older isnt worth it
As coolhandluke says don't go cheap android, I got a crappy Samsung that I got my wife for £100, I bet in 6 months it was used for 12 hours max, whereas she's always on an iPad now.
If you're tied in to Apple and have invested in apps then another apple seems the sensible route. Mini 2's can be had for cheap and are still pretty good.
If you want to stay to the android side of things then the world's tour oyster but bang for buck would have me looking at a Z3 Compact if you want something on the smaller side or a Z4 if budget allowed.
Out of interest and based on your user name would 73 to you and yours de M0SDB mean anything to you?
My Ipad 2 is still going strong and gets used daily for internetting mostly. Its running the latest OS and works fine - can't see any reason to be looking to change it.
No idea Danny - but it sounds intriguing. It's one of those personalised reg numbers that everyone loves to hate 🙂
Thanks for the input chaps, food for thought
Ah-I see. It would be your amateur radio call sign if you were an M6 licence holder! T'is exactly the format. Sorry, I'll go back to geek land... 😀
