Morning all, I'm off on a 3 week roadtrip around the South of France and northern Italy on August this year with 6 friends. We will be in a van and have agreed that we will all bring 1 home made CD with us, like the mix tapes we (I?) used to make in the 80's.

So STW, please give me some ideas on what to put on it. My tastes are quite broad but I don't want anything to "extreme", the rules are 20 songs max and try to mix it up a bit so don’t fill an entire CD with late 70 prog rock for example.

that is your theme right there.

I once went on a road trip to the north with a mate who made a cheese mix. first two tracks everyone was moaning by track 3 we were singing along at the top of our voices.

ker-wality.

I would go for mostly breakcore stuff with a healthy dollop of gypsy techno..

or a fat 72 minutes of solid Funk slabs

Mmm. struggling with posting the YouTube Links for some reason.

Here are my suggestions:

[url=

Henley - Boys of Summer
[url=

Prophets - Last Summer

Turn the stereo waaaaaaaaay up for these.

molgrips, I certaily can. I'm a bit of a 90's indie fan at heart so Gomez, Dodgy and Stone Roses are a given. Some Hendrix and some Velvet Underground will make it as well I suspect. MGMT is interesting as is some Zepplin and AC-DC.

I'm also thinking some house might go down well, perhaps some D&B as well.

All stereos should by law be fitted which turns the volume up to maximum levels when that AC/DC song comes on.

WTF! What kind of a road trip would you be on listening to the Stone Roses? Or is the clue in the trip. (Although you have redeemed yourself with SUM 41. 😉 )

2 - 4 - 6 - 8 motorway by The Tom Robisnon band has to be on any road trip play list.

I remember driving down to Cham many years ago .....blah.....blah...... drifts off into a misty past.....blah

Also Bucket Seat by Cake is good for driving..

Stone roses is ok when mixed in with other stuff.

My Sister in Law poured scorn on me for having a Sum41 album, apparently they are only for teenyboppers in the US. I had no idea 🙂
