Hi all, I'm hoping someone here may be able to help.

There is a group of 6 (3 couples) who will be somewhere in the French Alps for 3 nights towards the end of August (nights of Fri 27th, Sat 28th and Sun 29th). We are looking for a chalet somewhere that has a bit of life in the summer (not looking for Ibiza but a restaurant or 2 that are open would be useful) and are very open to ideas on location. We will be at the end of a roadtrip and will be driving from the Italian lakes to Grenoble to catch the train home so is something is vaguely on this route it would be good.

The main requirements are:
Somewhere that can deal with just 3 nights (though I will pay for a week if the price is cheap enough)
Somewhere pretty and picturesque (at least half the group have not been to the Alps)
Lifts that are open and within easy reach (A walk or short drive is fine but I would like the option to do some high walking)
Ideally either summer skiing or mountain bike hire (this is just for me and is very much a "nice to have")

So what and where do you reckon?
And, where would you search for such places?

Thanks in advance for your help.

No idea if either of these are what you are looking for, but they are both clients of ours and seem really nice places....

which way do you plan on driving from Italy into France?

personally i would spend two days in Chamonix and then one in Annecy. and both have the advantage of being proper towns so you can find accommodation per day as well as per week.
