While riding off road i'm getting a very sharp pain in the fleshy bit of the palm just under the thumb in both hands, though it's worse on the right hand. I don't get any pain normally or on the road bike, but as soon as i go offroad it flares up again. Rocky decents in particular are agony.

I've noticed it for around 3 months now, though it's never been that bad, but after doing the widowmaker on dartmoor (3 mile long fast rocky decent)and having to stop twice because of the pain i've decided to get it looked at.

I'm phoning up a couple of physio's tonight but i thought i'd see if anyone else has had a similar pain or tips to help it? I've tried playing around with suspension and putting on some softer foam grips but to no avail.

do your brake levers point towards the floor (so your hands are angled down at the wrist in relation to your forearm angle) ?

(that makes you "hang" off your thumbs from the bars rather than having the full palm on the grips)

If so, move them up a bit or even a lot, just to see if that helps - it also makes your forearms more comfy IME

This is possibly the first riding related incident i havn't been able to MTFU, i'm not happy 🙁

And re- my brake levers. My finger, wrist and fore-arm all seem to be lined up fairly well, with the levers at 45 degrees, I've had it in this set up for around a year and it's been fine until around july 😕
