So I thought I'd have ago at the cross-hatching thing that Catflees posted up the other week. Cheated a bit, by getting the basic shape in by tracing from the reference photo, but then put all the details in by hand. My left eye is not that wonky in real life.

Thanks for the comments! I'm too quick to jump on the pooter and do some manipulation, it's good fun to take the pencil out for a turn.

Nice - looking forward to it

I'll probably have a go at close up portrait next.

NOte: 1 feeling lucking in Picasa and shadows darkened a bit.

I need to get some softer pencils.

Unfortunately I suffer with prescription glasses ๐Ÿ™ and use a over specs so they look a bit big. I dont like contacts and prescription sunglasses are to expensive for me ๐Ÿ™

Should of used artistic license and drawn in some nice Oakleys ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah and ta. I just grabbed a sheet of printer paper and a 2H pencil on the spur of the moment. I think I'll ask for some proper drawing materials for christmas. It's been a while and I fancy getting back into it.

love it schrickvr6. kneeling footless, curly-eyed, purplehaired, stating a love of STW pissing puss from a thermonuclear spot on yer face. I like that.

That's expressive.

Art clubs looking good! Some lovely work this week.

Samurai have you got pictures of your old work? Your style would suit a really smooth paper like Bristol Board. I use that all the time now with stumps.

Nope, I lost virtually everything in a big folder when we moved house many years back. I was gutted.

All I have to hand is this that I drew in five minutes at Geneva airport because I was bored.
[img] [/img]

And this from a party when this drunk girl insisted I draw her something.
[img] [/img]

As I say, I need to get back into drawing. I used to be ok but it's amazing how quickly you forget how to get the best results.

My son's just getting into drawing, which is a good excuse to start doing stuff again. I'll post up some of my old efforts (on scraperboard) seeing as Samuri is cheating as well ๐Ÿ™‚ (just got to get them scanned)

Thanks M_B - I did it in 1984, so can't really remember! I was always meticulous on detail so they took a good few hours. My favourite ones are of old blokes faces, full of character, but my mum's got them.
It's great that my son is getting me to show him how to do them, so I might start doing some again (if I can find the time)

I have prepared the "Still Life" pic for Friday. Tempted to put a sneak preview up... It's in the Caravaggio Style Basket of Fruit.

Also... Anyone know of a Virtual Gallery i could put all the pictures in from previous threads. Like a Google Maps walk through type thing.

Any thoughts ๐Ÿ™‚
