moping the whole morning till now.. did this once in my other bike..that was easy..cant figure out why? help please.
Have you tried holding the tool in place with the quick release and using a bigger lever ?
I followed the tech tuesday guide as the last time i did..
http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Tech-Tuesday-Cassette-Removal-and-Installation-2011.html (this)
Using these :
You really need to use a QR to hold the lockring tool in place. Then you can give it some welly.
what they say Use a bigger lever [ or someone stronger than you]
I abandon all hope and went to my local LBS., how he did it is beyond me.. ...he took my wheel, went into the back of the shop ..heard something..then came back out less than a minute with my wheel, lockring loosen.. 😯 I asked how much..he said nah, that was nothing. 😀 ...then i spotted fenwick concentrate bike cleaner 7.99 buy1 get 1 and bought that instead.. Everybody happy 😀
Simples.
Rest the wheel on your toes cassette facing away from you, the top of the wheel will rest against your legs/knees..
Put chain whip on left side of cassette, lock ring tool and spanner/adjustable wrench on the right and push down on both at the same time. You can use the skewer to hold the tool in place if you need to.
You can really get your body weight behind it doing it this way, and no slippage 🙂

He used a vice
I had to get stitches once. Got it off though.
End.
