Do you have buildings insurance? Had cracks at mine so called my insurer. They sent someone round in double quick time to inspect and diagnose. Didn't cost me a penny.
Considered that option but if it's not subsidence, then I'm not covered anyway. If it is, it opens up a whole world of pain.
...but surely you'd rather know if it was subsidence?? I wasn't covered but i now know why my house has cracks all over.
