Don't use my myself, can't see why anyone should be interested in my rides and not interested in others but I have a possible use and need help.
I want to set a winter challenge for the club but have no idea if what I want can be done.
A set of climbs to be done over a set period. The set to be only open to those invited ( a bit like a FB group) to save me sifting out non members. Can that be done.
I.e. after being given the login code , or what ever, the member see a list of climbs to do. How do they then add their time?
Can Strava just show a riders best time thus leaving one entry for each person. After a fast rider might do 20 times all of which beat another. I only want to see one time each.
Could I even get an overall time for each member?
Does Strava pick a segment out of a longer ride?
Any bright ideas of how to keep this private and simple?

Oh, are you sure ?

My mate's in a road club and they set "segment of the month". I thought it was a closed list where you could pretty much do as the OP suggests (although listed separately rather than as a "set"). That was an assumption, I admit

(I'm not in their club so I don't know how they see it - I can still see their times but as I say, I thought they could see only their club times in the same way that you can narrow a list to people you're following)

Matesrace.co.uk uses Strava for some of the functionality you want. No idea if it's still going though, have a look

Matesrace + Strava can do this.

You can have groups of people on Strava, and then filter times for a segment to show that group only. You'll have to do some of the admin manually rather than have everything done automatically, but I can't see why you couldn't accomplish what you want to do. You wouldn't be able to have Strava show people a list of climbs, for example - you'd have to email everyone that info yourself.

After being a MTB-er for many years without any need of Strava I have turned to the dark side & done a fair bit on the road this year & see much more uses for Strava as my Garmin info is linked & it uploads automatically.

I'm a bit of a Strava novice & only have the free version & Premium may do more. Some of what you want seems unlikely but some may be.

A friend has set up a 12mi Strava section that we do on a regular basis & there is a ranking for this on Strava showing each riders best time. Individually you can look at your own position & look at the history times / ranking of all your previous rides (efforts). I can't see how this can be seen by others though.

Outsiders could also do the same section (so it's not closed) but if the section starts & stops in particular places they may not complete the exact route and therefore not the same section.

The only way I can think of to link others maybe to 'follow' them.

I hope this is of some help.

There's strava time trial app that should do it.

Strava. A club group can be set up from more, I.m not sure you can make private segments for a group as such, but if you connect accounts then click on a segment and then click on followers, to see the quickest riders on individual hills,

Use a laptop version rather than the app as easier to setup segments etc

Read that as Masterrace. Probably a different website altogether. Carry on.

Definitely Matesrace.co.uk

All you need to do is star the appropriate segments
Make a strava club for your friends
Set up a competition over the correct length of time

When your friends check the website, they give their permission for the website to share the info

Watch as your friend turn themselves inside out on the hills*
Borrow a moped and beat their times by 1 mile per hour*

(Points marked * are not obligatory but quite fun!)
