This will be the third named storm of the winter and the fourth this winter - we had a bit of a blow and a short power cut a few weeks ago, but as it didn’t really affect the mainland, it wasn’t named.
Forestry still haven’t finishing clearing up from Storm Amy which was 10 weeks ago.
Anyway, the new bioethanol fuel stove arrived yesterday and gave it a test run last night, plus the Jackery is fully charged!
We’re due 50mph+ gusts from 3pm onwards and high winds until midday tomorrow.

MrsMC was up at 4am this morning to get a flight from Birmingham to Glasgow. Looks like they got there in record time. I am less confident that she will be able to make it home this evening, certainly not on time.

Living, as we do, on basically the top of the first hill the wind/rain hits after it's come off the Irish Sea, rinsed the false tan off the residents of Cheshire and heads towards the Peak District, we tend to get some weather. I can confirm that it's horrible outside.
It has been fairly windy here in Kerry since early hours, enough to wake us,not so much rain. Haven’t been outside yet to see if our falling down hay barn has fallen down completely.
Edit. I’ve now been outside and it is very, very gusty and we are quite sheltered by forests! Quite warm and the barn is still half standing (we are hoping the storms bring it down to save us a job).

Schools have closed at lunchtime and sent everyone home. We may also get some flooding as there’s a storm surge on top of the high tide tonight. Same direction as Storm Amy, plus lots of recent rain which means a few more weakened trees may succumb. Lots of folks buying stoves, gas, torches and batteries in anticipation of another power cut. Ferries cancelled since this morning right through until tomorrow lunchtime.
Had a couple of showers earlier but it's very, very mild outside - especially so compared to the sub-zero drive I did after running last night.

Mild and wild - wind gusts are pretty impressive here. It's just taken down all our wheelie bins which are situated behind a slatted fence and most half full...but oh so warm.

Arrived at Edinburgh airport 2 hours ago. Had to go around at first attempt at landing. Full round of applause for the pilot on succesful landing at second attempt.
The wind is about hitting it’s peak now but only 50mph+ and a lot less than the 90mph of Amy. Just been outside with the dogs to check everything’s secure / not blown away and all good. Everyone’s still got power and we’ll see what the morning brings.
Our approach into Gatwick was interesting yesterday, bit wobbly but manageable 💪
