Sticking neoprene to velcro and velcro to my shoes

In a bid for  dry and therfore warm feet, I bought some Grip Grab gaiters.

Now, there meant to bridge the gap between your legs/ bibs and overshoes. I don't use overshoes so figured I could perhaps just stretch them over the tops of my boots. The boots (Mavic XA Pro H20 GTX) are like a hiking boot and while I can stretch the gaiters over, as soon as the get wet and gritty, they pull off the boot and because they're wet and gritty, they don't grip again. Until this happened, they worked pretty so I'm not giving up just yet.

I know I could sew the velcro to the neoprene but I'd prefer not to stitch the boot and perforate the membrane as they do seem to be waterproof other than the gaping hole where my foot goes.

I want to stick/adhere/bond some velcro type material to the inside of the gaiter and some to the outside of the boots. I've seen a few recommendations on various forums (including here) suggesting either Stormsure or Sureseal would be up the job, has anyone this sort of thing with any success? It would obviously need to be strong enough to withstand pulling the velcro apart.

What about stitching a strap to the outer/inner part of the ankle and hooking it under the heel wedge on your shoes? You could even make it adjustable with velcro and rectangle loop, much like a gaiter strap.

This is clearly a job for gaffer tape.

Attach strap to side of gaiter, run under instep, attach to other side?

It’s possible to get neoprene adhesive, not specifically for sticking neoprene - I’ve seen it used on the Repair Shop for sticking leather.

What about using a proper gaiter and then the griograb one to seal the top of that. Decathlon do a short gaiter for running or something.

Black Witch neoprene glue would probably do the job.
